a bright shiney nickel to whoever catchs the most errors in this crapfest :D

Dear god. Who knew that Edison made rifles? Or that the LE .303 was a rimfire?
What really bugs me is that this dreck is now out there, and will be taken as "truth" simply because it's from a documentary type format. My opinion of Discovery has just taken a huge hit.

for some reason I can't see the picture, but that may be a good thing :D

It isn't a good thing, you would love this slopfest. America went to war with Springfields in 30-03 (apparently the upate to the 06 had made it there yet), then they needed more guns so had Lee Enfields (according to the picture, #1mk3s) made in 3006 (apparently the 1917 is lost in there somewhere), and then of course in WW2 England needed new guns in a hurry so swapped to #4s, with rimfire ammo, and there I just turned it off and stopped watching :D

Funny how TV stations(like Discovery) complain that with getting your info over the internet you don't have the same guarantee of accuracy as the networks.
I have not checked but I have a feeling Wikipedias entry on the SMLE will be a bit closer to reality.

Just Who Are These Idiots? They Must be from US of A

Funniest mix up in my opinion: from time 4:00 to 4:30... :D

Louis, I don't think that it is a mix-up. But the men doing the explaining are not mixed-up, they are just plain ignorant, they "Don't Know S**T from SHINOLA" as was the WWII expression in the US military. (Shinola was shoe polish, I think,)

These guys are sickening:puke:

Is it any wonder that many Yanks have a bad name outside the USA?

sly old fox, it you think those "idiots" are American you really need to have your hearing checked out!
anyhow I only saw THREE rounds in that "5 round" lebel clip.

AND those were some rather ODD looking No4's in North Africa.

Not to mention the SMLE Model 1917.

I like that bit about having morale to "close with the enemy" There was a small item called a Maxim MG that made that rather a risky business.
The French found out that the spirit of the bayonet, "attack au outrance" only led to lots of dead frenchmen when there was no artillery support.

Shall we mention "der kindermord" when the germans advanced en masse with colours flying. in 1914, And they were stopped with those "innacurate Lee Enfields"!

It just prooves that even the stupidest things sound more intelligent with a British accent. Stupid Americans with their British accents.
