Hey from Crime Scene, Ontario

Hello fellow CGNers. I've been creeping these boards for a while logged under my boyfriend's account. I didn't hijack it and post though, despite wanting to. He got me into trap shooting several months ago and I'm hooked! I was the girlfriend who shied away from guns initially. Now I'm going out to the range with him and to gun shows. It's fun! I have a little single shot Remington 20g, but I'm thinking of perhaps upgrading to a 12g SxS. Anyways, nice to be here and to chat with you!

Welcome, once you get your wings with trap, you have to try skeet and especially sporting clay, great fun with a shotgun

We took a road trip this summer to discover the East Coast. We ended up at a range in PEI where the guys there took us skeet shooting. It was great! It was one of the highlights of the trip, pulling up and finally being able to bust the shotguns out of the trunk. I'm thinking it would be awesome to plan a tour of ranges across the country, see it that way.

Charlottetown Trap and Skeet club?

I used to be a member, some great guys there........ and some idiots.

That's the one! We only encountered the great ones there that day. Looked like a nice range from what we could see!

When I was a member it was known as the nicest club east of Ontario but the Fredericton NB club has since gone through some major work.
My wife was also a member, she loved sporting clays.

For a female trap and skeet shooter, look for an O/U or a semi auto with an adjustable comb, or at least get a pad for your comb. Women have longer necks than men and 99.9% of guns are designed for men. You rshooting will improve with a bit of a lift in your comb.

All we did to my wife's gun was slip on a homemade sleeve from an old pair of neoprene waders, worked great and was softer on the cheek.

Welcome to CGN and to the sport. Your BF is a very lucky guy.

Florin

P.S. You'll want an O/U for trap not a SxS :)

Bah! But I totally fell in love with a Spanish SxS. Maybe I will get it anyway and chalk it up to 'learning the hard way' that I really needed a O/U. Then I'll have one of each! Woo!

And you are right, he is lucky. But so am I. :) He's a great guy.

Everyone shot trap with an SXS before the O/Us became popular, I think you will be fine.

Actually it gets even better. Get the SxS then get yourself an O/U right away. Guns need to sit in the safe in pairs, I found... It's true... :)

Seriously, if the gun fits properly, and it can and should be made to fit there is no need for a semi... Avoid the extra cleaning, shells ejecting sideways etc.)
