I am trying to find a quality used O/U for duck hunting and skeet I have about $1300 and was wondering what to get. I like the beretta and browning but I have posted WTB adds and have seen some on the EE but does anyone know another resource for quality used O/U shotguns or anyone wanting to get rid of one ? I need some advice on what to get and where .......
thanks
Jon

I gotta say, that Browning "Cynergy" is about the most beautiful thing I've ever seen!!

I bought a spanish made O/U a couple years back. It's a Lanber. Bought it brand new for about 400, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I think all the O/U's are pretty comperable...they're all hinge action and most newer ones have auto-ejectors (I believe), so really there's not much to compare besides cosmetics? Personal preference?

Jon for the money you want to spend you may want to look at some of the Winchester 101 models that may be for sale in your area. P&D in Edmonton have or had a descent gun used that I think was in the $ 795.00 range, then you would take it to a gunsmith and have the chokes opened up to IC and IC from the Fand M that the gun is likely choked in, which should leave you with about $150,00 to purchase ammo. I did this with an older fixed choke Citori and it is a great shooting gun for sporting clays and waterfowl hunting. FS

you might also want to check out the CZ Redhead –*I'm looking to spend around the same as you for an O/U, and I've seen used browning lightnings for about $1500, but a brand new CZ comes in around $900-$1000, and they're rated as the best value in an O/U – competing against guns that cost 3x as much.

Who knows

You might want to check out this guy
www.widenorth.com

He has Yildiz O/U

I picked up a spanking new SP2 ME Special from him at the gun show.
MY GOD what a great looking gun. I also was in your price range, but when I saw this gun, I just had to have it. I had it checked out by a great gunsmith that was working the show and he was most impressed by it.
Cost on my Gun was $850. Tons of hand engraving and the nicest wood I have seen under a $5,000 gun.
Good luck
Jamie
PS I looked at over 10 pages on Yahoo and couldnt find one person that said one bad thing

For more info on the Yildiz line, check out the www.shotgunworld.com forum on "Yildiz lovers". These guns are very popular in the USA, because of their price point. They have had some concerns with warranty work in Canada or the States.
I bought one from David @ Wide North last year, and am not completely satisfied with it. One of their problems is the consistency in wood finish and wood to metal fit, from gun to gun. Some of the guns look great, and some not so pretty. They are also very light weight, so anyone sensitive to recoil might want to find a heavier gun.
Depends what you want to use it for, most guys don't like the recoil with heavier field loads. I use mine for sporting clays, so I am able to tolerate it for a couple hundred light loads at a time.

try the gun club in kingston. there's always something for sale there. and post a wtb notice on their board.
