You might recall , I was not too happy with my 858 awhile back . My problem was recoil that was bruising my shoulder .
Well , yesterday , I took it out and went through 100 rounds .....and had a blast !
I've been working on my stance and proper shouldering in the two months since I last shot it ...wondering if that might have something to do with it .
Anyways , I shot it at 50 yards , no scope and my accuracy was darn good .
Today , no pain or anything .
This is a very fun rifle !

You must not have been shouldering it right. An 858 kicks a bit more than an SKS for example, due to the light weight of the rifle, but it shouldn't really kick enough to hurt you.

Glad you figured it out, because the 858 is an exceptional firearm that's great to shoot. It's also quite accurate for what it is even with the dirtiest of surplus. Hope you have fun shooting many thousands more rounds out of her!

Thanks all . Glad I didn't trade it for the vz in 5.56 !
As the recoil is no longer an issue .
This is a very well built gun for sure . Easy to strip and clean too . In future I am going to add some goodies to it and keep on enjoying it !

Recoil???

With a CZ858??

What is this of which you speak??

:p

Ok, just having a little fun. OP, you must not have had that thing shouldered right, because the recoil on mine feels just about like my .22LR. Were you holding the rifle just off your shoulder?

I love mine, but I can't shoot it worth a poop due to the short LOP. (I have long arms :p).
Still love shooting it tho, even if my groups look like a buck shot pattern.
Glad you got your's figured out!

Try squaring your stance to the target. It makes a huge difference.

As a suggestion to your short stock long arm problem you could try the black plastic skeleton stock from Woverine. I just put one on mine and it added more than 2" and feels way more natural. They are currently on sale marked down from nearly $100 to $75, If you want to see what it looks like installed check it out at the CZ USA website.

Cool, I do like the look of the wood over black. But function over form wins it for me. If changing my stance dosen't help much I'll get that stock.
Thanks for the link!

Lol . You're right , just had to shoulder it correctly . It's pretty amazing how learning the CORRECT way to hold a rifle makes a world of difference . I'm lucky to have some good guidance ( both in this forum and from some folks at my club )

What groups were you getting at 50?

I'm totally new to talk about " groups " etc . Out of ten shots I got 3 in the center , 4 in the first ring from center , and 3 in the third ring out . Sorry , don't know the proper terms for that yet lol .

After that I shot 5 super rapid and only got one on the mark , the rest were off the page , lol
I'm no expert marks person that's for sure !

If you're using a typical scoring target for centerfire rifles, the rings are spaced 1" apart. Sounds like you got 10 rounds in 3" at 50 yards. I'll bet you were shooting surplus ammo, right?
