I helped a widow clearing out some things and among the odds and ends I came across this sight. I has a fixed 100 yard leaf, a folding 200, and three hundred leaf and a folding slider behind that. Any idea what this came from? Any idea what it's worth?IMG_4745.jpeg

The Winchester 58 was a cheapo bolt action .22
It wouldn't have any sight like that.
IMHO, it came from a sporter Long Lee that was made up in the first quarter of the last century.
I think it's value would be in the $100 range, but I see people asking stupid prices for sights these days.

It didn't come off a Winchester model 58 obviously. The "58" is the model number of the sight. Back in the day, Winchester made many sight models and they all had their own model numbers. They're collectible. One of these sights sold for $1300 in the states a few years back.

It could well be as Winchester made a sight for the African market and some of the Lee Speed sights were described as "African pattern." The 100 yard gradations is a Euro giveaway and the tangent set screw on the OP sight is on the upper right, original Winchester sight was upper left. So we may have solved the mystery! The sight is worth a ton anyway I'm sure!
