I hope I'm not overstepping my bounds as a non-Moderator, but I'd just like to bring up something. It doesn't happen here much, but hopefully a little note beforehand will keep any potential problems away.

I'm sure some of you are logging in on your phones, blackberries, dingleberries, whatever, and may have picked up some bad 'txt msg' habits along the way.

Here, spelling counts. So does capitalization and punctuation. And spell out the full word, none of this cutesy '2day', 'gr8' or 'b4' shortcut stuff, it's annoying and makes it hard to read. Most everyone here takes the time and effort to do so. It makes for easier reading and thoughts come across accurately.

Common shortcut phrases such as ASAP, FWIW, IIRC, are generally acceptable as long as you don't mind having to possibly explain yourself over again if it causes confusion.

I am not a moderator either, and Lord knows that I have not been a member on CGN as long as most of you, but, I have my own two-cents to put in.

I think that Grouse Man’s opinion should be added to the “STICKY” as a polite suggestion. We are surely not in the right forum, but notwithstanding that, Grouse Man is dead on. The problem is that the new-comers on CGN are mostly 18 to 25 year-old MSN raised children (unscientific survey, but the best I could do).

The English language is in enough trouble as it is and we should most definitely encourage everyone to write properly.

I have your back Grouse Man. Bring on the youngsters, but make sure they make their posts legible.

That said, please pardon the type-O’s, bad syntax and spelling errors. I said that I agreed with Grouse Man, not that I can actually write as well as him.;)

Man, that last sentence is hard to read. Where did you go to school?

Also I fully agree with what Grouse Man said about text message lingo. I'm so new to this electronic communication world that I have no idea what some of these abbreviations even stand for.
