Hi added another to get Help what type of firearm is this?

Its a MN, no doubt 7.62x54R, but I'm I'm not sure of the exact model The swivel in front of the magazine is odd. The buttplate doesn't look standard. How long is the barrel?

Looks like an 1891 (as opposed to an 91/30 which has a slightly shorter barrel). My computer screen isn't so good, what is marked on the reciever(fill in the letters with chalk to make 'em really visible)?

www.mosinnagant.net is a treasure trove of Mosin info

Yes a Mosin Nagant 1891, cal. 7.62x54R MM, with the new clearer scan I agree it was made by Tula. Date was very fuzzy on the first scan, with new one it is certain it was made in 1894. Early 1891's had swivels on the magazine and forestock (1894 date explains un-removed mag swivel), these were replaced by dog collar slings in the early 1900's when done the rear swivel was not always removed. These are also found on later dated guns, when older parts were re-used to rebuild damaged guns (done by the Finns mostly).

Worst looking P14 I have ever seen.........you might actually have to pay someone to take it.........:)
You could probably get $200-$250 for the 1891 though.

Thanks Guys it's a real shame to see this kind of treatment to these old war horses. I will be scrapping the P14 and selling the 1891 or trading for #1 mk111 and or #4 mk1 parts to bring back sporterized models.

Thanks again to all

If you're gonna chuck that P14, I'll pay the shipping and take it off your hands! Not like I could turn it into something worse!

I cleaned up a sporter'd P-14 in WORST shape than that. The guy who owned it gave it to me for free. Took a long time to get it back to service, but when I did it shot great. I sold it to a friend and he later sold it here on the forum.
