Just introducing myself to the masses. I hunted in Oklahoma and Texas for many years growing up and moved to Canada after University (met a gal from Calgary) I left all my guns in Texas but they were sold after my dad had a stroke. Now my youngest son is an avid shooter, starting on vacations in Mexico he would always win the "prize" at the resort amongst the adults so I thought I would get him involved. So we have spent since Jan/09 getting licenses for Firearms/Hunting and have had a blast since. We currently have a couple shotguns and 22's and belong to several clubs. We tried sporting clays because he would like to go bird hunting in the fall but I insist that when it comes to hunting, the only thing new will be the bird. Seen to many bad things going up due to excitement. We have been able to go gopher shooting once but would really like to go somewhere near Calgary, so if you know someone that needs some help, please let us know. In addition, he would love to start big game in the fall so I'm looking for a 308 for him and me. I have just set up a reloading room with a Mec 9000 to start reloading as I'm sure we will be busting clays for a long time so I may be asking for a little advice on the reloading and used gun sales. Some of my earliest memories are of my dad teaching us to handle, load/unload and shoot a gun. Then hunting for quail, grouse, pheasant, ptarmigan, duck, etc Then hunting for deer, moose and goat.
