Looking to get into target shooting at a range. My PAL was approved last Friday and now waiting for the card (CFC are not the most efficient organization to deal with, I would have thought that once the PAL was approved, it would have been in the mail within a day or two - and what's with a 28 day waiting period! - why not 10 days or something more reasonable? I've probably already forgotten everything I've learned at the safety course!).

Will be looking for future advice on what rifle to buy to get into the sport.

Any recommendations on good ranges around here? My safety course instructor belongs to HAHA and suggested it was a good club.

I used to go to Waterford - had MULTIPLE bad experiences with staff and RO's - lot's of 'old boys club' there.

Try Silverdale.

welcome

there is alot of ranges near by (more or less) HAHA, WSSC, Silverdale, Guelph, Waterloo, Cambridge(Colby),Burlington, and there is one in Brantford. Just ask around and think; in or outside ; warm or cold; short range or long ??????? confused yet?? LOL just take your time.

Welcome to th e forum.

There are lots of ranges close to Brantford. Not far from your house is the Brant Revolver and Rifle Club (indoor, pistol mainly), Then there is the Brant Rod & Gun club out in Bishopsgate (Skeet / Trap only), HAHA in Ancaster and despite what some here have said, there is a hidden gem down in Waterford. Lots of guys with "plastic" guns that don't care what the odd fudd has to say about it. Most of mine are "plastic" and some black even:eek: but I will still shoot a round of skeet with the "old boys" and they do have a lot of good tips for a beginner if you are a good listener.

Any way; we have 5 skeet or trap fields, a 25 yd indoor range with 5 lanes and automatic target retrieval, and a recently renovated ~185 yd range with 10 positions. Annual membership is $125 and user fees are $3.75 for trap or skeet, $4 for indoor and $5 for the outdoor.

It really isn't all that bad. I could point you to some nasty threads on here about Silverdale but that would just make me another anonymous internet hater.;)

Give it a try and if you don't like it. Well there are plenty other ranges not even listed within an hour of your door. Silverdale is just a little over that.
