Hey guy just thought Id drop in and say hi.
I have a couple of questions please.
There is rumor that stag and s&w mp15 are the same identical gun, but cant find proof of it?
Is it possible to import a colt 6920 from the states or should i forget about it?
Has anyone ever tried to find out why the ar15 is concidered restricted?

The AR15 is restricted only because it looks scary and considered by idiots to be an assault weapon or a variant thereof. No one at the CFC can define a variant so it remains complete bulls**t. Same thing goes for the DSA FAL.

There have been a couple of Colt 6920s listed on the EE in recent months, use the search function.

I have heard that the S&W MP15 is a Stag sold by S&W under their name. There is a thread on this forum talking about that.

It's restricted because there were too many in private hands to make them prohibited. The other evil guns were easy to prohibit because there weren't as many. If they prohibited the AR15 there would have been too much of an uproar, so they did the next best (worst) thing.
 
It seems like the people who make up the laws have never felt, shot, owned, or seen a firearm in their life. If this is such a free country then why has no one formed a pitition/faught this battle(s) in court.
Seems like we are on our way to being like australia where only the police and criminals have weopons. Gee didnt hitler do the same?
So lets get this straight I like addidas you like nikes. Third party comes around and agress with one of the parties. Yeah nikes are better we should get rid of addidas. A civil rights law has just been broken...

Lots of info on how long the fight has been going on. I still have my original FAC dated 1979.

You might want to check out the NFA or the CSSA websites. You will find that those organizations are working for the rights of gun owners on a daily basis. Along with CILA, these grassroots orgs have been everything a gun owner could hope for in Canada.

Don't kid yourself, Canadian gun owners will not roll over like the Aussies did. There are way too many of us:eek:

Stag and the S&W M&P-15 are both assembled from parts made by Continental Machine Tool, which is also a government supplier, so you're paying for the engraved logo with the S&W, while some Stags are even closer to government specifications (the G line).

It's possible, it's gonna cost you. I'll sell you my NIB LE6920 for $3200.

Glad you chose the AR15 platform, the more restricted rifles in the system, the more difficult it will be for any future prohibition attempts.

That's actually a point I had not thought of.

When I purchased my AR, it was based on the merits of the platform, not on any foresight about potential prohibition attempts. I think I'll be hanging onto atleast on AR regardless of any changes in my overall inventory in the future.

Thanks for pointing out yet another reason to own a slick tacticool carbine.

Really never thought of it in that way.

by the way there is a chart floating around on the net with the various ar manufactures. Seems like the everyone wants to be a colt. Third down or fourth down was the MP15 but now the discrep. is if stag and s&w are the same rifle then why does the chart state otherwise? Ill try to cut and paste the chart since I have not seen it on this site.

There's going to be bias in anything people print. Bottom line is everyone may want a Colt, but nobody needs a Colt. If you keep your eyes and ears open and you'll be happy with whatever you eventually decide to go with.
 
i like how they make the laws on how scary something looks. i can paint my marlin 3030 black, screw some rails into the wood mount a flashlight and an eotech and it would be scary too.
