Hi I'm new on this site and interested in handguns

Target Sports in Gormely (404 & Stoufville Rd) has courses from time to time - call Pat 905 888-8288 to enqure. You can also challenge the exam - there is an exam centre beside McDonalds, south side on Hwy 27 just south of Albion Rd. There are videos you can view on the CFC website and practice exams on www.gunexams.com. Target Sports has the PAL & RPAL study books. I used all those resources and scored upper 90's on both exams with very little prior experience.
Very good place to take your courses.
http://www.cfc-cafc.gc.ca/safety-surete/safety_course_video_e.asp is the link to the Safety Videos. I know there's a link around here somewhere to d/l the manuals, but it escapes me at this late hour.

Good luck.

If you are up for a drive you can certainly be my guest at EESA for some shooting fun.

Not to mention in June you should come down for our open house. We get convoys of cars coming from Toronto out to the event.

Then there is also our "Womens Weekend" event over the third weekend in June.

Thanks for the offer. I'll check out the website link that you sent me.

Even the Open House in June sounds like a fun way to spend the day.

What is the "Womens' Weekend"? Is that strictly for women shooters?

The Open House is the second weekend in June...I should have mentioned it.

The Womens weekend is put on in conjuction with the National Wild Turkey Federation.

It runs the Third weekend in June (oh the first weekend is the BLAST OFF Military shoot).

Anyway...

The womens weekend is set up like a conference. Ladies sign up for various activities some are offered every year. Others are offered occasionally.

Some that I can recall include.

Handgun Shooting (held every year).
Archery
Rifle
Black Powder
Cowboy shooting
Fishing
Fly fishing
ATV riding
Canoeing
Kayaking
nature Hike.
Survival
Unarmed Combat (self defense)
Crossbow shooting
Outdoor cooking
Wilderness shelter building
and the BEST course ever offered ....Pracitcal Shooting. I was the instructor for this course which was offered for the first time this past summer.

Here are some pics from my course.

There is camping at a local camp ground and the food is EXCELLENT.

Generally there is a pig roast on the Saturday night.... Silent auctions etc.

Only Women can sign up for the weekend. Many were mother daughter combinations.

This fall several of the ladies came back for a combination goose/deer hunt.... Sadly the weather was too warm and all they did was improve their tans.

One of the ladies that took my course now has her black badge for IPSC shooting.....made me very proud to have helped out. I am certainly doing another course this year. Howver now they want me to put on a 4 hour cousre instead of 2.
