Hi! New and have a few questions!

Hello, I've been lurking the site for a little while trying to read up on as many rules and regs of the local shooting area as I can. I have just (finally) received my RPAL and am looking to get into sport shooting in the Calgary Area.

A little about me, while still a young buck (21), I am by no means new to firearms. I am a member of the Canadian Forces Army Reserve and have deployed on combat tour to Afghanistan. I am looking for some means to keep my skills sharp and have a fun shooting at the same time. Maybe learn a thing or two along the way. I already have a Norinco M14, but as it stands my primary focus is getting into the AR game (A game I know well already). Are there any ranges around town that are rated for Restricted Firearms that one can casually shoot at? Of course with a membership, I have seen that the homestead shooting ranges are not "plinking" ranges but wonder if any exist? I wonder too about ranges around Calgary in regards to older generation frowning upon shooting at silhouette targets, is there somewhere with like minded people?

I just thought it was time to make my first post and introduce myself.

Edit: Changed some wording

"...believe this is the correct term..." Hi. No, it's not. It's a term of disrespect. Mind you, there are a lot of rectal orifi around who seem to think their way is the only way.
Homestead is a range used by the Alberta Provincial Rifle Association(DCRA affiliate). No restricted firearms on their 'public' range. You may want to think about joining them though. http://www.albertarifle.com/default.htm
One of the local guys will be along to tell you where you can shoot.
