Hi-Point Carbine - review

...So there's pretty obviously a problem with the firing pin. He spent at least half the video loading rounds, knowing that they wouldn't fire, but pretending to be surprised every time. It was painful to watch for a few different reasons...

Came across that video last night and I’ve never fired a high point, but it’s vastly different to all the other videos claiming that high points are tanks. Could it have just been a lemon?

Did you watch the video? Hi Point themselves sent him those magazines to use with the gun.
Yup I painfully watched the whole vid

Mine works well

The only complaint I’ve ever heard was on a:low capacity magazines, b:proprietary magazines, and c:heavy due to the direct blowback nature, he must just have had a lemon with a damaged striker or something. However, to solve issue A and B, I wonder if there would be a market for a redesigned aftermarket stock that can take Glock magazines… then you fine folks could use 12 rounds of 9mm in a .40 glock mag, in your hi point… I’d be happy to do the cad design and drafting, maybe even a 3d printed prototype, but I’m no injection molder… would either need to setup a group buy thru protolabs or someone big in the firearms community, like archangel or magpul or the like… I wonder if they have a contact submission form on the archangel website…

After watching a bit more, the issue is clearly a problem with stovepipes, likely a poorly shaped extractor or the recoil spring is too heavy, or the ammunition was lower powered than required. I wonder if there’s anything in the user manual suggesting to start off with +P to break in the bolt and springs…

Well it started out with a stovepipe issue, soon followed by a painful display of attempting multiple ammo with a clear firing pin/striker problem… that’s what I get for posting after only the first 2 minutes…
