Hi-Point pistols

So I finally got out today. This is my first review so be kind.
While reading this post please remember that this pistol and two spare mags(total of three) cost me $320.00 to my door.
The finish was inline with what I expected. A little rough at the edges and lots of plastic. The slide as that cast iron feel, but the finish is good. The gun comes with regular three dot sites and ghost ring sites. I put the latter on for my range trip.
I put approx 200 rounds down range this trip. Here are my observations.
The 10 rnd mags are a little sharp on the edges and hopefully will break in a little.
The gun is very top heavy when unloaded.
The Hogue slip on grip worked great and is a must.
The trigger is real bad and I will have to work on this. It feels spongy and “cheap“.
When fired you really feel the slide moving back and forth. This is the first blowback action I have used and will take a little getting used to.
I had a number of FTF but this was due to one mag.
The rear adj sites made it east to get on target.
Once adjusted this gun is very accurate.
If I do my part this gun will be more accurate than my Glock.
All I all I am happy with this gun. I wanted a cheap semi in .40 and I got a cheap semi in .40. I will not make any claims that this pistol is better that a Glock or Ruger etc. Its not, but for half the price I am satisfied. I am not a little guy so the weight does not bother me. I do not plan on carrying it concealed so the size mean nothing. It goes bang when you pull the trigger and the hole appears where you aimed.

Anyone know what size holster this beast takes?? I just want a cheap holster like an uncle mikes. (in line with the guns price). What number would it be. Maybe its so thick there isn't a holster made for them yet. Let me know if you know a seller in Canada.
Buy a pair of pants 4inches too big, and a good belt, go for the inside the Waist band carry. Just don't do the mexican carry in the back, or people will think you've made a really bad mess back there 
There are people in the US who use it as their CCW, there must be some kind of holster available. It'd be pretty massive though.

I've never owned anything in this calibre, have never been a fan of the 1911, and of all the other .45's I've fired, only the Springfield XD felt decent.
I'm no recoil wussy... but why put up with it if you don't have to?
I'm curious as to how that massive slide will affect the felt recoil.
I'm thinking about going for one of these in .45 acp.

45acp recoils? I've got a Glock21sf, not a very heavy gun for the cartridge, and I find it pretty mild to shoot. I don't load it down either, pretty much full power for the cartidge. The Hi-Point is a massively built gun, whatever supposed recoil the 45 has, should mostly be soaked up by all the weight.
45acp, I find to be a gentle push, not at all snappy. My 44mag, now that has some recoil to it. Some nice H110 max loads, it breathes fire.
I just got back from the range and I have to say, THIS GUN SHOOTS!! I never cleaned it from the box, just took it as I got it and started shooting. I bought 2 boxes of Winchester 180 gr FMJ as I don't have my reloading dies yet, and they were the only
.40 cal ammo the store had. (and the only store in the NWT).
Anyhow, I put the ghost sight on it at home and found that I didn't like the sight picture too much after 20 rounds. (sighting it in as I went) So I put the original "3 dot" sights back on and continued on my way.
At 25 yards, I got consistent 3 inch groups using my bag as a hand rest. I never got ANY FTF, FTE out of the 100 rounds. And this was with ZERO cleaning, and the mag was quite stiff to load for the first 20 or so rounds.
I am really surprised at the "shootability" of this oversized pistol. The recoil was actually among the mildest I have ever felt among a centerfire pistol. The brass all went to the same place and I got them all back. Now, I can't wait to start reloading for this one and see what she can do. Sorry I didn't get any pics, but my "rechargable" batteries for my camera were dead when I got out there, and I recharged them yesterday????? Need new batteries???
She is quite hefty, but it is actually the first pistol I have held that truly was comfortable to hold in my hands (I have really big hands) My friends are all impressed with the way it shot, and how solid it feels. Fit and finish are really good. Anyhow, my next range visit will come with pics. I might have to get a .45 acp now. Goddamnit, it was supposed to be a cheap pistol, now I may have to get one in each caliber.

Yeah, Billybob, if you have a negative opinion, let us know why. Don't just take the easy way out and diss something without your reasons. If you've never shot/handled one, but don't like the look of them, say so. If you have , say so. But don't give a hit and run comment like "good luck" , because that just smacks of either ignorance of the product, or elite snobbishness about higher priced pistols. I never said it was a Beretta or Glock, but I can tell you one thing, it shoots, it was affordable (I don't wipe my a$$ with $50's) and it got me into shooting .40 s & w alot quicker than if I had to wait to be able to afford one of your choices. (in fact I can probably get a 9mm, 40 and .45 for the same price as ONE of your choices. ) but to each their own. I like it, and thats all I care about.
Dang now you all have me wondering if I should try the 40s&W. I am not a gun elitist by any means ( I am waiting for a Norinco Commader 45 right now) I am a full blown gun nut without a whole lot of disposable income and these seem to be in my price range. I've been kinda hesitant to get one due to just looks but who knows it might grow on me. hmmm
I gotta say, EVERY one of my friends said "WOW" when they saw and handled it. It just looks mean, and since nobody CCW in Canada, who cares if its a bit bulky. That actually is a plus when you are pulling the trigger. I seem to be able to keep it on target a little easier. The grips are a little smooth, but I plan on stippling them this weekend with a soldering iron like the pics above. I am glad I bought it.
Just ordered the 45 for 350 bucks to my door with 2 extra mags dont know how ill like it or how it fits my hands but ive got a 1000 rounds of ammo that i bought for my nork and i figured it didnt want to the only 45 in the safe thanks kodiak outpost decent firearms at good prices keeps new shooters shooting
