Hello,
I'm looking to aquire a "new" Hi-power handgun (9mm of course).

I'm not sure to go with what brand...

Here are a few I found out there:

Norinco: NP-18 'P9R Type' Double Action High Power - $279.00 (marstar)

Charles Daly: Daly Hi-Power with XS Sights - ~ $ 587 (taken from Charles Daly website and money switched from US dollars to CDN dollars)

Browning: HI POWER STANDARD - $879 ( Ellwoodepps)

Now which one and whats the real differences btw them?

I've been long thinking about the Norinco for its low price but is it realy the quality im looking for?

It be real great if some one gave an opinion on the firearm itself. how does it feel to shoot a Hi-power?

Stay away from the NP-18, its quite poorly made and is a copy of a FEG that combined features from the Smith And Wesson M59 and BHP. FEG makes a great Hipower copy for 479 bucks at the The Shooting Edge.

Get a Browning. I have no experience with the other clones but I've had three Brownings and they were the most accurate 9mm I've owned.

first choice = FN/Browning, but they're pricey.

second = FEG HIpower clone. Very good reputation amongst BHP fans in the USA. Big bonus is that it costs alot less then the FN/Browning makes.

not mentioned = Inglis Hipowers, since they're collectors, but the china exports ones have crappy rear sights. If you can get the rear sight replaced anywhere then they're ok.

stay away from the norinco almost-Hipowers, they are not a true copy of the BHP and have a bad reputation amongst guys up here who bought them.

The NP-18 is not their best product (coming from a Nork fan!)

They do make a proper copy (NP-36?) but it does not seem to be for sale in Canada?

Have you looked for the FM version? Also check the background on the Charles Daly models, they buy guns and rebrand them, some models are good, others are crap.

Get the Browning, they have more ergonomic safety levers now.
Stock browning barrels are very accurate as well.

Hi-Power

Hey,
Where can I can different hammer's for the HP I don't like the one it comes with.

I want one with a "commander hammer"...not sure of the name...its a round one that looks like the one on the beretta.

The FEG is a decent quality COPY, if quality takes precedence, that mandates an FN produced Browning! The Canadian Inglis is quite collectable, and good quality, that would be an excellent pick.

'Real Deal' Browning Hi-Powers

Go with the real deal BHP... I've got two BHP MkIII's... one in 9mm & one in .40 S&W... both are "keepers".... ;)

Get the real thing (FN/Browning) you won't regret it - I sure don't.

If cash is an issue, buy a used one. Saw a Mark III going for $475.00 in January in the EE forum. Damn near jumped on it myself, but what the heck do I need with two of 'em?
