Hi there all you nuttz. I wonder if M A T T was in my silvercore course with me. I seem to recall a Matt.

Anyhoo, I used to shoot small bore target when I was about 17 years old at Sapperton F&G club when it was in queens park. I was one of the top juniors there, and went to the summer games once where I ranked about the middle. first time I ever shot 60 meters outdoors. Got me a girlfriend, and you all know how that goes. Sold my Anschutz 190, and bought a water bed. ;o)
My Dad is getting older now, and I didn't want his guns going anywhere but my safe, so I went ahead and finally got my Pal course. I'm sending it off soon.

I am thinking of a Beretta 90 two, a Ruger .22, and with the change, a Tavor ( assuming I can still get one in Feb. ) I also have an interest in antique and milsurp ww1 and 2 rifles. I have several .177's, and one .22 air rifle. I have always kindled an interest in putting lead into the spot I chose.
Now it's time for the real thing. I always loved the meeting of fine woods with machined metal. Not so much into black stocks, but I do see their worth.

From what I have read here, it looks like an excellent forum, with little tolerance for BS. Perfect. I am looking forward to getting to know a few of you, and becoming active in voicing my concern towards the idiotic gun laws being rammed down our throats.

See you in the funny papers.

Rob

Yes, I took the Silvercore course in Surrey. I was in the first group of three to take the practical exam (we all passed :D).

I'm also interested in a .22 Ruger (revolver) and a Beretta for a semi-auto. What club will you be shooting at? I am looking at Langley Rod & Gun at the moment.

We should try to get together and make a pass at a few clubs. I hear different things about some clubs. I would like to check a few out before deciding. I might join a couple. pm me if you are interested Matt.

I just popped into Langley Rod & Gun this morning. Wasn't all that busy, as I was expecting for a Wednesday morning. I asked an older gentleman that worked there (as near as I could tell, anyways) about the indoor shooting range. He said they allow handgun calibers up to .45, but no Magnums. Rifles are .22 only, and no .22 or .17 magnums.

They have a Junior & Senior .22 Rifle Program according to their site. As I fall into neither age range I asked about rifle shooting and he kind of vaguely said it can be done on Wednesdays, which seems to say handgun only on their site.

I asked if I could see the firing range and he gave me a pair of hearing protection. Even with the protection it's LOUD! There were four older guys there. I forget but I think there were at least nine spots, maybe twelve to shoot. One of the guys shooting appeared to be the range officer, not sure if it was official or you just appoint someone when you have a group there. One thing I forgot to ask about was bringing guests, as my dad, and maybe even mother, are interested in shooting a little.

I will most likely join LRGC as they are only a 5min drive from my house, and I am mostly into handgun now after checking out all the handguns during the Silvercore course.

Thanks for the info Matt. Have you thought about Mission? I hear it's pretty good. I just talked to a member here about a nice .22 ruger mkII. He's holding it for me until my PAL shows. It's exactly what I'm looking for. I also just ordered a Tavor, so I might take delivery in Feb.
...and so it starts. ;o)

Have you thought about Mission?

Too far. Even Ridgedale in Abby is farther than I want to drive. I think LRGC will fulfill my needs for now. If I ever get into big rifles with expensive scopes I'd have to look elseware.

I forgot to mention LRGC has a 5-rounds-only rule for ANY size of cylinder/magazine.

So, Langley has a single shot loaded, and five round max? why all the limits? Where's the fun in that? I want to let them rip when I want to, why else get a semi?

:ar15:

What do you mean by "single shot loaded"? Whoever runs it makes the rules I guess. If I find I don't like it I will try another club, but I really like how close this place is.

That Tavor looks fun....:D

I finally found what I was talking about...but this is for rifles at Mission. I wonder why it's single shot loaded there? I guess that means no five, or Tavor ten round semi bursts?

So you have to reload each time? I wonder why only rifles? LRGC has a similar poster listing rules in the range room, but it said cylinders and magazines are to be loaded with only 5 rounds at a time. That's nice their range is open 9:00AM - 10:00PM.
