I would like to say hello to all, I'm from Brampton, Ontario currently 18 years old and I am looking forward to getting both my Restricted and Non-Restricted license. I do have some firearms experience, I was a cadet for 5 years and captain of our range team, also fired a few firearms at ranges here and there.

As I said in the title, I don't have my licenses yet buttttt I am enlisted for both restricted and non restricted classes for August 21 and the 22, I took them with FAC Canada (Firearms Academy of Canada) in Toronto, if anybody else took their courses with them or has heard of them could you please share any info? Other than that anything I should be aware of, any knowledge to pass on to a noob?

Thanks

I have a freshly minted PAL and took the course with FAC in Surrey B.C. the were pretty good and I passed no problem. They also give you the forms etc which makes applying a lot easier. When it comes to handling the firearms keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot. There was no live fire at my course but they want to see safe handling at all times...........good luck and don't sweat it..........cp:

Reply was pretty bang on. Always PROVE the firearm safe and know the rules about restricted and non-restricted in Canada. Common sense goes a long way in passing... never point a firearm at anyone and keep your finger out of the trigger until youve committed to fire. Most of all.. just pay attention. Its always great to have more licensed folks.

Oh ya..... hope that wallets ready for the long list of "wants" :)

Oh yes of course, I've got the ACTS and PROVE down pat, and it really does come down to using common sense I don't want to prepare to ONLY pass the test I'm preparing to be able to handle and use firearms safely, which it really should be about...AND I can feel the pain hitting the wallet already I booked my classes/test 2 weeks ago and I'm already wanting a Norinco M4, M14, and of course 1911...

Congrats on catching the bug :D

If your doing the classes, they will beat ACTS/PROVE into you at every possible opportunity. Test should be straight forward

Hey man PM me if you want. I'm in north york. Ill bring you out to the range if you want and teach you some hands on stuff. I sent you a PM already with a little more details.
