Hi, thinking about a 305

Hi I just got my unrestricted exam done (restricted in a couple week) and I was thinking about getting a 305 (m14) as a first rifle. I dont like the stock rifle grip so was thinking about a archangel or ebr stock is 1K$ budget realistic and also I'm thinking about getting a reloading kit is it a good idea for a novice shooter?

(BTW I have shot c7 and love every second of it, so not a 'virgin' shoother)

hi and welcome- there's a couple of schools of thought on this one; one is to buy a simple bolt action until you learn all the aspects of rifle handling; on the other hand,the u.s. issued the m14/305 for 6 years right out of the gate to every gomer that came through the turnstiles- in other words it's ALMOST foolproof-you just have more to take care of, and way more to learn- oh and they're great as long as SOMEONE ELSE is PAYING for the ammo- a 305 will eat up 20 rounds in VERY short order
