Hickock 45 compares a Benelli M4 with a Condor Arms clone

It's about quality of material, attention to detail/quality control, and reliability. Sacrifice some of that for price. If your shooting pumpkins and two litre bottles that's not such a big consideration. Free ammo to do that allows the comparison video.

If I was in a survival situation or combat. Not only would I want the quality, and reliability; I probably also would go for a manual action. Say a mossberg or remington pump.

H45 makes the point that the Benelli seems to be hitting the watermelons harder and darned if I didn't see that too. Maybe observer's bias, maybe not, but the ammo was the same.

I just watched a YouTube video by Colion Noir...as pro 2nd Amendment supporter as they come. I think he's a lawyer too. He makes a lot of YouTube videos..mostly firearms related. He did a video on why he would choose the Benelli M4 as a home defense shotgun. It was an interesting watch and he compared the M4 to a Benelli pump-action shotgun. The M4 sure shoots faster than the pump, but he's used to using the M4 because he's very familiar with it. Watching him use the pump-action was interesting. He's obviously not very good with a pump-action as he had FTF, double-feed problems because he's short racking the pump a couple of times.

He also admits that the M4 wouldn't be his 1st. choice for home protection. He prefers the AR-15 carbine for HD because that's the firearm he uses most and most proficient with. Just his personal opinion though. I would love to have a Benelli M4, but with a standard buttstock and no pistol grip. I'm used to My Mossberg 590A1s and could probably be close to the M4's time to empty, but I'd still have 3 rds. in my shotgun. It did make me think about shotguns for HD though. The M4 is expensive to buy in the 1st. place, and if you want to add aftermarket pieces to pretty much make it bullet proof, it's gonna' cost even more. I'll stick with my Mossbergs, but I still want a 590A1 with the 14 inch barrel for proper HD though. Maneuvering in a house with that 20 inch barrel is a big risk for somebody to grab the barrel. The 590A1 with short barrel is perfect for HD IMHO_still got 6 rds. plus another 11 on board in saddles. If I can't do the job with 6 rds. I deserve to die, but just in case, those extra rds. are comforting. I didn't have the almost $1,000 CAD to snap one up earlier this yr.:( YMMV

That's why I got a Keltec KSG - 6 shells x 2 internal tube magazines with 3" shells. 12+1 shells on tap, up to 14+1 with 2.5" shells.

Tighter choke on the Benelli?

I guess nobody has anything relevant left to say on this thread, so let's watch this TV show, one of my favourites in the good old days. That crazy Jingles, he could have us kids splitting our sides I'm telling you.

This is my 500th comment on CGN and I just wanted it to use it to say I really love the benelli m4 and it truly is without peer.
The fact that the turknelli clones have been selling in such crazy number is unprecedented, when before have so many sales of a firearm been generated by a cheaper direct clone that is just riding on the reputation of the original? Really speaks to the merit of the design.

I've bought and sold a lot of Benelli's over the years; for quite a while I had 4 Benelli M4's in the safe. I'm not sure why so many legit M4 owners are butt hurt by the mere existence of Turknelli's... although I suspect they are concerned that their large investment has just been usurped by a $500 gun. It has not. Benelli's are still the Ferrari's. However, there are many situations where a more disposable shotgun can be appreciated. Farmers and ranchers need something to throw in the corner of the tractor, shop, garage or behind the seat of a truck. City dwellers who only have access to range's and don't have $2500 for a shotgun, a Turk could be a nice fit. Using self defense and reliability as the reason they shouldn't exist... It's a interesting discussion but the odds of any of us ever in our entire lifetimes using a gun in self defense is lottery odds. Not saying don't be prepared, but don't let your preparations prevent you from having fun along the way. If you can only afford one gun, a Turk shouldn't be it, but few of us are in that boat. A $500 disposable M4? Sounds like a lot of fun, ordered.
