Hickock45 review of RNWMP Colt New Service .45 Colt

This revolver was issued to the RNWMP in “F” Division, Prince Albert, SK. It formed part of a shipment of 250 revolvers forwarded to the Commissioner of the RNWMP on October 24th, 1919. It is stamped RNWMP along the backstrap along with an inventory number.

I have one from the same shipment and, on rare occasions, I indulge in the pleasure of shooting her.

I also have one from that 1919 order. There were two orders placed in 1919; one with 250 revolvers and another with 500 revolvers. . Some didn't have the stampings on the backstrap just MP stamped on the bottom of the grip frame.

I watched Hickok's video on the NS a few weeks ago and thought he did a great job and quite knowledgeable and complimentary to both the RNWMP and the RCMP.

Both of these Colts in the photo are chambered 45 Colt. The top NS is 1919 the bottom SAA is 1906

I use to like when his videos we're 15-20minutes long but they seem to go on and on now. Neat revolver and love the history lesson.
Sadly, I have to agree. I watched (or tried to) one of his "Sunday Shoot-around" vids and couldn't get through it. I've always liked Greg's vids and still watch the shorter ones. He does't have the "whiz-bang" attitude of so many YooToob gunnutz- just an ordinary guy.

The other thing I don't like is being intensely jealous of his "back 40" range, which I think is this:

He must have very tolerant (or deaf) neighbours, given the amount of shooting he does!

I always found him too long winded... But I guess that's youtube these days. The algorithm is based on watch time, so longer videos are better from a content creation perspective - at least to a point. If nobody watches to the end then it's pointless, but I feel like a lot of people who watch Hickok45 are of the older crowd - his style doesn't really appeal to the younger crowd - and I suspect the older crowd is more likely to sit and listen whereas us young folk don't have the attention span for that.

I don't normally watch him unless I'm looking for videos of a specific gun, and I only watch the first 5 minutes or so. Once I've heard his opinion of the gun I don't need to listen to him ramble for another 20 minutes.

Well, FWIW, at 68 I guess I'm one of the "older crowd" and even I find him too long-winded :)
