The same result can be had by drilling and tapping the fore end/ main spring hanger and then installing a tensioning screw which will function the same as the one on the Hicks. When I did this on the No. 1 I have, I also made up a shim of UHMW that the tensioning screw bears on, both to prevent marring of the barrel and as well to spread the pressure out a bit.
Please note that the above isn't something I dreamed up on my own, but as I recall I read it as a potential fix for wandering zero on No. 1's years back and thought I was nothing out trying it.
