High BUIS scope clearance needed?

Hi guys. Picked up a Ruger AR 556 with integral receiver rail, and high back up iron sights. Looking for some rings, and not sure how much clearance I should be looking for. From the rail to the top of the front sight it is about 1 1/4'', and the objective will probably be from about 6-9" away.

How much clearance, or ring height should I be looking for? Looking to keep it as low as possible without having the front sight in the middle of my FOV; what height should I be looking for? Would 1.5 inch rings be enough, or "extra tall"?

Just get regular AR15 scope rings, which are usually about 1.5” high. With a magnified optic, the front sight is mostly invisible.

I had some rings in my "tickle trunk" that I put on (I picked the tallest I had on hand) and a scope that I had lying around, just for kicks, and get a feel for what the gun could do, and while I was able to see OK, for shorter range and at low magnification, the sight was really in the way for any kind of precision.

Would "extra tall" be about 1.5"? I find most of the AR rings to be ridiculously expensive. Don't really need the ones that scream "high speed, low drag operator". Lol!

Hpw about, sighting in the irons. Then use a high quality quick release mount/rings. The optic is easily removed, and when replaced, should still have zero.
