High cut front strap, checkering pics

Some pics of another 1911 project I am doing for another member.

Requests: High cut on the front strap, Checker front strap 25lpi.

Getting very close on this one now. Taking a break and relaxing the elbows! Also I like to break overnight before doing the last 10%...it's like editing writing. You can't do it when you're too close to the project; you'll rush it and do a lousy job.

Probably try to finish this off tomorrow. Still not finished any of my own guns, of course...typical.

That, I'm afraid, is totally out of my hands. I'm just doing the monkey work here.

We don't have one of those "whilstling" smileys here...could use one in this case I think.

Is that a specific file designed for strapping? or just something off a shelf somewhere?

Checkering file...Brownell's is usually the easiest source.

Looks good.

I converted a mainspring housing into a straight with squared checkering, turned out fantastic and felt great to me.

Never cared for arched m.s. housings and do like them checkered.

The front strap was grooved so it was left as is. I also changed the mag release to square checkered from serrated.
