Hello fellow gun nutz,:)

I am on the hunt for high quality bolt action 22lr rifle.

What is your recommendations or ideas.

Obviously the king of the hill is a match 54 Anschutz, but that as of right now is far beyond my budget. (subject to change though, the 1710 DKL is flirting with me);)

How does the T-Bolt compare to the Finnfire II (accuracy wise, or build quality)? The T-Bolt is approx. $400 cheaper.
The straight pull of the T-Bolt looks kinda gimmicky to me,but there are quite a few reviews on the finn having extractor problems.

Then there is the BL-22 (not a bolt gun) that gun has always tickled me, but having never shot one I'm clueless as how they preform.

I have had a bad experience with a CZ, I have shot and handled a few CZ's, I just don't like em.

This rifle is something I would like to be able to pass down eventually so I need it to be something quite nice.

Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

For what do you intend to use the "high end" .22LR? Target shooting? Hunting? That will play an important role in determining what suggestions to make.

If the Anschutz 54 action rifles, which start at about $2000, are beyond your budget you might want to consider the Anschutz 64 action rifles. These include the MPR, which is great for target shooting but not so great for hunting as it's quite long and heavy. The 64 MS R Match Silhouette Rifle, is shorter and a great shooter (I have one). The Model 1416 come in a standard stock configuration as well as a thumbhole stock. They are less pricey than the 54's. If looking at the 54's, the 1710 D HB is also worth considering in addition to the 1710 DKL.

One of the great things about the Anschutz rifles is that they have excellent triggers. The T-bolt does not have that reputation. The Finnfire II is an excellent rifle -- in fact I've been shooting one this week. The bolt and action are solid and very smooth.

It's too bad you have a thing about CZ rifles. They are probably the best bang for the buck, in terms of quality, fit and finish, and accuracy. I shoot mine quite often. The 452 American is still available (the last time I looked at Reliable Guns) and the 455 is available everywhere quality rimfires are sold.

Let us know more about your intended use for a bolt .22 LR rifle.

There is an Anschutz 1727f on the EE right now. Pretty "high-end" .22 (with an appropriate "high-end" price tag). Should be good for just about anything you would want to do with a .22, except maybe benchrest shooting.

Old Brno.
New CZ 452.
Old Winchester 69 & 69A's.
Old T-Bolts arr better'n the new ones.
Just bawt a Henry H0001 and whutt fun.

Still my favorite to this day is the Schnawbled
Winchester 69A I have.
Will be cremated wid moi.

Picking a rifle for someone with the information supplied would be comparable to me asking my wife to buy me a rifle.
With what I have spent on 22 firearms would have bought me an Anschutz 1710 and 1712 which would quite nicely cover targets, silhouette and hunting.
Without any leads as to why the CZ line is off the table can probably be excused because he is "flirting" with the Anschutz.
Wanting to pass it on when in between his best before and expiry date is commendable and would make a very nice gift, especially the Anschutz but the CZ will last that long as well.
Of course, a quality rifle should be fed quality ammo; Race horses don't run on straw any more than a Ferrari runs on Bunker C.
That being said, the options being a T-Bolt, Finn Fire, and a BL-22 while discounting the CZ ranks right up there with farting or pi$$ing into the wind.

I have a couple Anschutz 64 action guns. To me, my 452 Lux has a better feel to the bolt. Better mag release too. I have the triggers on my Lux and 452 FS just under two lbs. Had them out yesterday in the pasture. They hold their own during the winter at the indoor range too. Haven't fed them any high end ammo, CC I STD does well enough.
The Belgian T Bolt is also sweet, haven't tried the STD vel in that one yet

Normally I don't like funky-looking things, but I really like the Savage BSEV:

Now on sale at Cabelas, regular $700, now for $560.

Agreed! Mine have all been stellar.

If you're not competing a 64 action anschutz should suit you well. Pass on the cz and go right for the Annie. I went through 2 savage mark ii s then 2 czs. I now have a match 64 and an MPR on its way. The Annie needs nothing to shoot well other than good ammo. No free lunch and you get what you pay for.

Save up as you wait for a used Anschutz. buy it when you see the 1 you want.

or what about a Bleiker? how much have you got to spend? If not much at all I'd look for a Norinco NS522!

This rifle will only punch paper when sighting in, other than that it will be used as hunting, shooting spinners at 80 yards off my back porch.
Wow guys I appreciate all the input, also if I ever buy a Anschutz it would have to be a 54 action. Reason is if I would buy the 64 and really lIke it I know I would have to get the 54 as well. That's just me.

My go to rimfire rifle right now is a Savage Mark II synthetic and it has over 10'000 rounds through it. It still looks new (ish) .
I'm after a hunting rig, but a good one that will hopefully remain in the family for a long time.

I had a CZ 455 Varmint , here is what I disliked. Action feels like pulling a canoe over gravel, the bolt lift angle for a rifle in this day and age is way too high, while the bluing and wood work is nice, the overall finnish on the steel was not the best, as in sharp corners. Now our neighbor has a few 452 and they are well broke in so the action is smooth but his CZ all needed a bedding job to get them accurate. I sold my 455 after only half a year it shot about 3/4 inch at 50 yds. never tried match ammo tho. I mostly shoot cci ammo in any configuration.

Budget is around $1000 but money can be saved for more, I am in no rush to buy this rifle I just want to get a good ideal or maybe a poke in the right direction. Looking to buy this rifle sometime before the next year gophper season(spring).
I already have a nice Vortex Viper 4-12 X 40 waiting for it.

Thanks for all the input!

The Lilja fan's haven't come to the table yet what is up with that? "LOL" $1000.00 Not even a close top end for that. Hunting and spinners at 80 yds 3/4 @ fifty should do that with good ammo.
But It looks like CZ is not in the cards.
