yes im in the market for a new ar! i have seen that recent vltor build from 50calshooter and it was beautiful, i am a sucker for high end firearms, the more i know the better off i am! if it were up to me my list would be narrowed to

LaRue
Noveske
Vltor
LMT
PWS

but knowing that all these manufacturers use very common parts made from the same place like BCM,or vltor uses noveske barrels, im curious to know what my best options are! i currently have a rock river arms LAR pistol and have thrown a ton of money in to it and starting to feel i should have done more reaserch and really bought a higher end firearm. so before i make my decisions on what i should build next is determined on my new knowloedge of AR's! thank you all for your help!

can we get sigs easily or can HK come at the same price as those mentioned? i know larue is harder to get but until today i havent heard of sigs crossing the border or an hk being around 2500-3000 buks, if i had a disposable 40k i would buy all the nice ar's i can get my hands on....but i dont :(

I like my PWS. I've got about, best guess? 4,000 or so rounds down the pipe on her and I've only had to clean it three times.

One when I pulled it out of the box, then once every 1,500-2,000 rounds since. I have had one failure to feed which sorted itself out halfway through a 300 round session.

It's light weight and I can make the hits at 500m with the 12.5"bbl and it performs like a warhorse...

I have a 14.5" Armalite and love it. Never had a single failure of any kind, It feeds from every mag I've stuck into it (and I have over 20 of them).
I know it's not milspec but I trust the company that Stoner worked for when the AR came to be.

I also have a 20" Hbar Bushmaster upper on a Stag lower and It has worked perfectly so far. I haven't put very many rounds through it yet so it hasn't proven itself long term but I have no complaints so far.

Buying milspec is really kinda pointless for most people. It doesn't mean you are getting a better rifle. It only means you are getting a rifle that has passed more tests in the QC department before it was allowed out of the manufacturers factory.

If I was going into battle I would want milspec but for punching paper at the range I'll save a little money and spend the extra on mags and other goodies.

Just my $0.02

I'm only going to list three. I'm saying this do to price rather than best. KAC for instance is just too expensive, especially with some of the LMT deals out there. No Im not getting into piston ARs. Until there is a standard (Most likely if adopted by military) I refuse to jump on that band wagon.

1) LMT. I opted for mrp monolithic rail. But Questar has had some excellent deals. Paying slightly less than US MSRP was something I couldn't say no to.

2) STAG. Excellent AR. Tons already posted about them. Our Canadian bought ones from Arms East have sone extras such as proper staking, H buffer etc.

3) Armalite. Under rated. The new ones have great fit and finish. Not entirely milspec. Front sight not F, buffer not H etc. Bolt on mine is properly staked, came with collapsable FAB stock which I actually like a lot. I haven't found the need to replace it with a ctr. Also upper has dry lube just like the LMT.

The Armalite stock 2 stage trigger was the best out of box of the three. Although the LMT wasn't bad after lube and dry fire. My stag trigger was good but it wasn't completely stock. Some polishing was done.

You won't go wrong with any of these. The price on them isn't insane.
