Considering Viht 140 as well as IMR 8208 xbr to push 155 gr bullets out of a 22” barrel

Any other options worth looking in to?

Thanks in advance

Ramshot TAC puts you under case cap. with room to go more and a listed higher FPS than both your choices. The 140 needs a compressed load to perform at the higher FPS. Cheers

In the target rifle game we are limited to 156 gr bullets, in other words 155's. Ask any shooter on the line what powder they use and 95% will tell you Varget or N-140. Barrels are 30-32 inches and velocities run around 2950-3020 fps.

TAC gets it DONE ✅ My load in my FTR 308 46.5 grs ( MAX) with a 155 Lapua brass Fed210M. 2950 ish with a 29 “ barrel
Start LOWER . 😊

If the chamber or neck is too tight I couldn’t make N-140 get there before stiff extraction. I know it works for a lot of guys. Varget is one way, before that 4895 was the go to and worked great at TR until everyone got excited about temperature sensitivity. Haven’t tried the TAC.

Following for interest
I haven’t got around to testing yet but will be starting with Varget because usually you can go over max in 308. Always accurate for me.
And CFE223 looks promising. “The book” says it should be the fastest so will give it a shot

That is why I chose CFE223. All the data shows that it produces the most velocity. I am interested in pushing the 308 out as far as possible and when it comes to ELR, velocity is king.

My results with moly coated 155 Scenar should be supersonic to about 1400 yds. Thats pretty impressive from the old 308 Win.
