ok that james yeager guy swears by high temp wheel bearing grease in ar15's...

will it work in handguns?. i know there's lots of other good gun grease out there, but wheel bearing grease is cheap. will it work.

would be using it in sigs...

Works in my 1911 and M&P's. I use the waterproof stuff that's OK for boat trailers - if you don't live in BC that may be overkill. If you live and shoot where it's very cold it may not work as well. Incidently, an AR just needs lube - any lube. Pat Rogers says he's run one on Vagisil.

New SIG's come with a tube of synthetic grease, which they recommend using on the rails.
With the tight frame to slide fit on my new SIG X-5 Tactical, lubed as recommended, the pistol wouldn't function last week outside, at an ambient -2C.
It may have been because I had been generous with the stuff, but as it is recommended by SIG, I feel the use of a synthetic wheel bearing grease on your units should be fine.
I have used Mobil 1 synthetic grease on the bolt rails of my AR, and they function well.

I use Slide glide only on the rail. Works for me!

Some people said you can find a similar product in autoshop, look for red ball bearing grease.

During pistol assembly after a complete stripdown I have found that the Lubriplate 105 engine assembly grease stands up very well,it is formulated to provide lubrication during initial break-in of a rebuilt gas engine, the grease is light and does not seem to gum up if left in the slide rails during storage. It turns to a light oil base after use but will not last as long as a graphite or moly based product.

synthetic bearing grease i'll give that a try.

im running a few sigs that have alot of rear rail wear (came that way cpo's), and at the moment im using oil, figure grease will be better than oil. i did get the little packets of milcom and somthing else with my new sigs, but i would prefer buying some grease in bulk that isnt hard to find or expensive.

and if wheel bearing grease will work for my ar's, im hoping i can use the grease on the pistols as well, one grease for all :D.

thanks for the replys guys...

I use FP-10, which is designed for firearms and works great. After what I spent on the guns, buying a lubricant "because it's cheap" doesn't seem like good sense to me. But they're your guns, so do whatever you want to them...

This is what I use. A tube lasts a long, long time!! :)

I bought a tube of Moly (Supertech) grease at Walmart & use it on slides only & use Ballistol for the rest. Got it because Canadammo guy recommended it a while ago. I hope he wasn't kidding. :D
