Hi guys im considering getting a marlin 795. Ive been doing some reading on them (not too much out there) and I have seen that Marlin doesnt recomend using high velocity ammo? has anyone ever used much in their 795? Any noted problems? I am looking at this gun compaired to the 597.

I have a 795 and I shoot hyper-velocity through it on a semi-regular basis with no problems. I used to tear it apart every 1000 rounds or so to check for any sort of damage because of that recommendation, but there was none to be seen.

About 5000 rounds ago I decided that, except for cleaning it, to only take it apart if it gave me any trouble. I haven't had it apart since.

It's a good gun. It'll shoot everything from CCI Subs to Stingers and everything in between. No gun related FTFs or FTEs (sub par ammo will occasionally give me some trouble, but that's hardly the gun's fault) and it's quite accurate right out of the box. The trigger will need a bit of work unless you like an 8-10 pound pull. I cut two coils off the hammer spring and it lightened it up quite nicely.

Feel free to post any questions about the 795 and I'll do my best to answer them.

Matthew
