I hike on a fairly regular basis, mostly on a piece of land that my uncle owns

But for this fall I have grander plans, an idea and a dream that I would love to accomplish

Hike the whole day, kill a few partridges on the way, setup camp in the middle of nowhere, cook the partridges and then move on further the next day

What are the legalities surrounding this idea ? My uncle's land isn't an option as it is too small to do this sort of hike on and it's quite populated

What would be my options to make this come true, in a legal way.

and sadly, I live in the ####hole that is Quebec..

Not sure about Quebec, but I know in Alberta a good place to start would be the provincial hunting regs. You'd have to look up the regs for the area, and go by those. But the idea sounds pretty damn good to me.

You will need a hunting licence, your PAL, a non-restricted grouse gun, know the dates of your grouse hunting season and be on crown land (public land) away from houses and roads (check your hunting regs for this last item).

Hunting licence is first thing I'll be getting asap
I have my PAL / RPAL
What defines a grouse hunting gun?
Grouse hunting dates should be easy enough to obtain
Crown land location and limits is probably the biggest burden on my path right now, information is unclear and vague, everybody is bouncing me left and right when I ask for that sort of information
Away from houses and roads should be "easy" enough, I can probably ask the SQ (RCMP) that are in charge of police duties in the areas I'm looking at

So far really I've got my little blue card dating from when I was like 13 years old, hunter's certificate or whatnot, which would allow me to obtain a hunting licence.
That, and a dream hehe...

Thanks for the info so far

Several good choices out there. A .22 rimfire or a shotgun (something like a 20 ga or smaller, like a .410 bore - that's not to say you can't use a 12 ga but it can be a bit on the overkill side). The .22 will probably be easier to pack/carry on an extended hike.

Check your local game regs and find a nice big stretch of crown land. A 20 ga shotgun or 22 would be a fine choice. You might consider sampling a rabbit on your trip as well. It's nice when dreams work out! Good luck!
