Hilux Malcolm

My dovetails are on drilled and tapped on the rifle barrels .
Depending on how far apart your mounts are regulated the number of clicks per minute of angle your turrets will give you .

I see. I am looking at the dovetail mounts but was told that they are not very solid. However, I got the impression that I was being led astray because they don’t have the mounts that I was enquiring about in stock so I got the impression that I was being led away from them to sell what they stock. I don’t want to use drilled/tapped mounts if I can help it. The plan was always to use dovetail mounts but if they are not good then I have to change plans (which will probably mean selling the rifle and ammo than I have). Before making any rash desisions, I want to make sure that it is based on FACTS. Thanks

Well, years ago I had a gunsmith buddy make a set of mounts for a brass 4x Tasco replica BP scope, and IIRC he madr them dovetail into into the existing dovetail slots in my Uberti 50/65 highwall.
They worked perfectly , and we shotvthst rifle out to 500 yards .
I think I can find some pics on my computer .

The dovetail mounts that allow the scope to slide that Hilux supplies LOOK nice but are rather pricey. All OK if they are solid but don’t want to put that much money into something that does not work well. Then, if they are common consensus is that they are good solid mounts I will have to find somewhere to get them. Thanks

I have a 6X mounted on a Uberti 1885 in 40-70 Sharps Straight. I bought the scope, used here on the EE. The rear mount developed a crack in the corner of the right side rabbit ear. I ordered the optional rear mount that uses a screw to establish elevation. The Uberti has 3/8" dovetails. Here's a photo of the accuracy I get with this rifle. "Aim small, miss small".
