Hinged floorplate opens up upon firing

Hi everyone,
My FIL's rifle, an interArms Mark X in 300 win mag, has develop a problem: The hinged floorplate opens up when he fires, and all the remaining cartridges fall on the ground. Not good.

Anyone has any idea how to fix this problem? Maybe hints as to what to check?

This isn't a new rifle...maybe the latch or whatever is used a bit?

i would say that either it needs a new spring in the latch. (Stretching a spring does nothing. once it is pooched it needs to be replaced. stretching the spring is a stop gap measure. works for a bit then it will start happening again. ) or it needs a new latch made for it. if there is lots of material on the latch and it covers a lot of the floor plate, it needs a new spring.
 
Is the trigger guard and magazine floorplate all one piece? Check to see if the floorplate latch is full of crud, this can prevent the spring from pushing it all the way out. Sounds like it will be an easy fix.
If it is 2 piece, is the rear action screw pulling the trigger guardinto the wrist of the stock, pulling the floorplate latch down and away from the floorplate? This is a common occurrence with Browning a-Bolt rifles.
 
It's claimed that Interarms Mark X uses a Zastava Mauser action made in Yugoslavia (now Serbia)

It looks like the "locking wire" performs the magazine catch spring function.

~ If the latch is what I think it is, look and watch how it functions. Then remove the latch and remove material from the 'stop', where it contacts the bow of the guard.

~ Another option would be to block the latch and prevent it from moving.

~ Either the latch is defective, the spring not working, or the floorplate itself is defective. You need to determine which one, then correct that part.
