Hinged Vs Magazine.

I prefer an internal box magazine (be it hinged, fixed or blind) over a detachable magazine. I have had more bad expiriences with detachable magazines than good, mostly related to feeding issues. Internal mags are simpler, more reliable (never have to worry about making sure your mag is seated properly) and more durable. Theres also the chance of losing a detachable magazine, which is a non issue with the internal box design.

Well said, I also think that the "Kwik Klip" conversions for Remington rifles is the biggest piece of crap out there.

For my centerfire's I prefer the hinged floorplate. I find it easy and I don't have to worry about loosing or forgetting a magazine. I usually load up for the day and unload when I get back to the truck or camp.

For my rimfire, the removable magazine is quick and convenient to have extra rounds at the ready.

:D

Myself, I like box detachable magazine. It suits my type of hunting and is easy to load when needed.

I like the hinged floor plate except on Sako 75's where the detachable magazine system works flawlessly for feeding etc. I've had remingtons where they didn't feed very well and you couldn't top load them.

Wasn't even thinking of rimfires! I would tend to agree with you on that subject.

I like hinged floorplate, but do own a CZ 527 that has a detach magazine. Sometimes I misplace it and it takes me a couple minutes to track it down...I dont like that part of it

That's why I keep all my rimfire mags in the same locked case that I keep my rimfire ammo in ... ;)

depends..

if I had a classy rifle I'd want a hinged floorplate.

meat rifle? detachable mag. more convienant and I dont have a problem of misplacing them.

Hinged floorplate.

I like things simple as possible. I see no advantage to a detach, unless you generally need more than 4 rounds to take an animal.

Although I think you should use whatever works best for you...;)

I've never hunted so I wouldn't know, it just makes it alot simpler for me than having to wonder if I actually checked that it was unloaded the last time I came back from the range in a hurry. This is the reason why I store all my rifles with the action opened and the mags out of them, ok, so I'm paranoid, sue me ! :p

I like hinged FPs in a boltgun, but I don't think there is a better magazine system out there than that in a Browning BLR. I could live with a detachable mag like that in any gun.

I agree. Not all detachable magazines are alike and the Sako got it right on the Model 75.

I like the detachable mag at the farm because I can keep the rifle out with the loaded magazine nearby and remain legal. It's very quick to load if needed.

I've always had rifles with the DM, but recently picked up a Rem 700 .338 with the floorplate, and I don't mind it at all.
