Well I've been just hired for the Kitimat Eurocan shutdown!(that was fast!):rockOn: As some people know its a long one this year, 3 weeks! :dancingbanana: This is a really good chance to make lots of money fast! My buddy made 3k in 10 days of working at last years shutdown and he was just an laborer. Now we are both skilled! (We will have our class 4 power engineering) so ya I think it would be easy to make 4k at this years shutdown.
So with all this money, you guessed it after the shutdown its time to buy a rifle!!!!! So here is my question, what is the best scope/rifle combo for 3k!

ya hahahaha but I plan to stick around here. I can probebly get on with Eurocan or Alcan as they are loosing so many power engineers at both Alcan and Eurocan... And that is good news for me!

Get the cash in the bank first DJ, then look around.
Funny thing with shutdowns (I've done a few in over 30 years in the industry), they can end right now for some guys.
If youu get the cash together first, you can then hunt around for what you want, instead of hunting for what you want then trying to find the cash.
That being said, what type of rig are you actually going to look for?
Levi Garret has a great Fclass rifle for slae, but you wouldn't wanna drag that beast around in the bush!

I've got a fine little 6.5X55 mannlicher I got for still hunting but I am not going to be able to reliably smack a deer at 400 with it.
So, think about what you wwant, the go for it!

Oh to be young and foolish again :D Like others have said Riley you might want to put a little cash away. You can get a lot of rifle and scope for a lot less than 3 grand.

Here's an example, last year I bought a new stainless Ruger for around $750. Add on a nice new Leupold VX11 3-9x40 for about $450 and you'd have a Kitimat rainforest ready brand new rig for about 12 hundred bucks. :shotgun:

Then of course there's the premier CGN equipment exchange with all kinds of good deals. IIRC Riley you have a 300 mag already? What kind of rifle do you want next? Moose thumper? Deer rifle? All round? More info buddy, let us spend your big time shut down bucks here. :dancingbanana:
 
if you all ready have a rifle, i would use the money to buy some high end glass. after all, you shoot with your rifle, but hunt with your eyes.

Hahahaha its all in theory. I got 99% chance to get on at either Eurocan or Alcan after the shut down. (it pays to know people high up) Like I said this is just dreaming here, if I don’t make 3-4 k because I get laid off after a few days (it happens) I won’t be buying a expensive rig.
Anyway I have a 300 win mag yes, but I want something that I can shoot out too 400 yards with ease but also take a moose. I would like a stainless gun as well I do not like all the extra maintenance with my blued 300. The reason for this is because I do allot of hunting in Deise Lake and man some times you need to take that long shot.
I know i can shoot at 400 yards with my 300 I did that last week but I would not mind something new.

Once you have mastered striking the rice bowl with your weapon at 400 yards only Grasshopper.

Yes I'm 3/4 the way through my 4th:rockOn: and should be done by the end of May.
The reason why every one is leaving is both they are getting older and retiring and that they can make a hell of allot more money up north. its just i have lots of family here in Ktown so thats why i want to stick around.

Well keep going on the stm tickets.
I am a 3rd with 16+ yrs in at weyco now Domtar in Kamloops.If you get on at eurocan at your age you should have your 2nd class before you are 30.Then whatever happens you can get a job anywhere in the world you want.I have 14 more years here in the loops then its retirement he I come.RB

Right on!!!! I'm really enjoying the power engineering thing its really fun and you learn a huge amount of things. I plan to get my 2nd but not a 1st i dont really want all that responsibility. So if i can get on at eurocan i think i can afford to blow some shutdown money :evil:

A couple of things to consider before buying the next "necessity". Wait until you get on at one of these facilities and get through your probationary period. With P&P on a tear why is Eurocan taking an extended shut unless it is absolutely necessary?

Other than that, fill yur boots...

The Co-generator lost a main barring on the turbine or so my step mom says. Its going to be 3 weeks from the 8th of June to the 28th.
