HK 417 classification?

Guys,
Not sure if this is the right place for this question...
Just saw an EE WTS ad for a HK417 rifle posted today. The gun is listed as NON-restricted.
I tried contacting the seller about it but his PM box is full. Isn't the HK an AR variant? I did a search here and it seems to be restricted. Am I missing something here? Would love to get it if the price is right and NR!!

The 243 is in .223. I was looking at the .308 cool factor. If the 417 was NR (pipe dream), I was gonna trade out my XCR-M for it in my safe. Guess the M is safe for a while!
Guessing the 243 would be in the 3G range?

He wanted like $12000 for it last time, it's not worth it in my opinion, better to get the MR308 its exactly the same gun unless you want it for a museum piece of course.

Difference Chrome lined barrel, not wanted on that gun considering the steel used.
No Extension tab in the barrel chamber like MR308, easy to have removed.
Adjustable gas regulator, depending on different usage of suppressors it is handy but not needed either.

Everything else exactly the same, including BCG unlike MR223 vs HK416

I'd bet it doesn't exist - how many semi 417's are out there - anywhere? much less in Canada, and it's owner doesn't know it's legal status? Yeah right.

Just saw that! $12000 for a restricted AR variant. I'm definitely keeping my XCR-M. Maybe get a RFB to keep it company!

I think you guys are missing the point, it's a collectors gun. a wall piece.. the only one in Canada from undoubtedly the most innovative firearms maker in the world in the last 60 years.

The bloody thing could be made out of unicorn horn and lubricated with fairy dust, it still doesn't make it worth $12k.

Looks a lot like the old HK93 which is prohib so guessing the 41 is? Not really sure.
