Am thinking about buying one of the HK 45's, and from what I can tell there is a safety, but no hammer drop for DA carry. Are these guns meant to be carried cocked and locked? I just don't see dropping the hammer with your thumb, unless I am missing something.

I think it varies depending on which V you have

V1= cocked and locked?
V9= decocker?

I could be totally wrong on that..........

Thank god for youtube. Apparantly the safety lever is 3 position. Up is safe middle is fire and down is decock. Now I just have to figure out what to sell to pay for it. I have a p30L and it has both the safety and a separate decocking lever. Since I haven't actually handled the 45 yet I wasn't sure

Using your thumb and pulling the safety lever down all the way will decock the hammer, that - and as Malice said - if you have that version.

Always freaks ppl out beside you when they see you do it the first time :)
