Thinking of making a g28 ral 8000 clone using a mr308 in ral 8000. The optic mounts are pretty unique and the best I can find is mounting a ral 8000 Schmidt and bender in a one piece mount and then mounting an aimpoint micro on one of the rings. The aimpoint sunshade is interesting and I've only seen airsoft versions and even then the tan is out of stock.

The sensible part of me feels the optics are overkill and to use my spare NF 2.5-10 but I do like the look.

Two more left at Bullseye Sports, could just buy the real deal.

The mount and sunshade is made by Era-Tac
I’ve seen the sunshade sell for 400USD in the states.
I think you’ll need to make some drastic changes to your clone or else you’ll be near the same price anyways.

Hk gods will strike you down if you bolt an airsoft optics mount on their rifle.

This.

The only reason I would clone a G28 is to remake it on a NR reciever set.

Do you have the MR308A3-g28 for the base? Don't forget you will want to replace the flash hider with the G28 one. I was tempted, but decided just to keep the regular one.

The price to do a full out clone is going to be ridiculous!! I agree with the others, might just be cheaper to pay the 15K and get the real deal all done.

Also don't forget that the US version that replaced the M110 SR25 rifle will be the next thing. I happen to like the look of the G28 so I went with one, even though it's black. The price I couldn't turn away from. But... the next thing will be in a few years and the G28 mockup MR308 rifles aren't light. The newest US one seems to deal with this issue.

I believe they changed the upper receiver to aluminum (instead of the current steel) and changed the optic to lower magnification to save weight. It’s not going to be night and day difference though.

I’ll have a G28 flash hider for sale soon, message me if you want it.

Well they are kind of cool looking. Also with a shorter 16.5" barrel the piston system offers some advantages. Even more if we could suppress them.

Plus the full ambi lowers are really nice. The 308 version is positioned appropriately against the LMT/KAC rifles which they do compete with. It's the 223 version I'm having difficulty trying to justify buying...

That being said, I bought the MR308A3 with G28 furniture and didn't bother worrying about an actual clone. I will be putting a 4-14X Burris E1 scope on it in the same type of mount as seen here. 3-9X is a bit under powered for this type of rifle. I just put it on to see how it would look. It's actually fairly good. But I still want more magnification for shooting small groups. Again, I wanted the rifle and prefer the look of the G28 but didn't care about an actual clone.

I would have thought the change from steel would help a lot. Also the Geissele handguard would help. I just really liked the distinct look of the G28 handguard.

Thanks. I may take you up on that.

I have a ral 8000 mr308 a3-28 that I just picked up and spare aimpoint micro, Harris bipod, ral 8000 vertical vertical grip I can rip off my mr223, would need the optic mounts and a Schmidt and bender.

I feel the Schmidt and bender is overkill and I usually do a rmr or similar over an aimpoint micro when needing 1x with a long distance scope. So I'd be out 3.5k for the scope and whatever for the mounts. I like the flash hider that came with the mr308 better so don't think I'd change it out hahaha.

I may have to use airsoft at least on the T1 mount part if I decide to go through with it all. Just hard to find that sunshade.

I've read in the US people have contacted era tac but these mounts are not being offered to the public. I was thinking of getting a spuhr mount with a couple of picatinny rail sections and then just cerakoting them. I don't know how bad the airsoft aimpoint mount could be but I also don't see myself using the aimpoint.

I think that it is probably easier to buy the factory HK G28E2, and the price is not too far off from building a half-assed clone. There are things that you just cannot source, like the steel receiver.

In the Euro land, the optic package ( mount, S&B and Aimpoint ) goes for 6000 Euros in retail, so that is 9000 CDN.

For 9000 cad I'd get it but stores here are asking 16k. The only things I don't have are the optic mounts. My ral 8000 s&b is a 5-25 instead of a 3-20 but I prefer that optic. All said and done I'll have paid about 7k for everything but the mounts.

I think what Greentips meant was that just the optics package alone is going for around $9000 cdn in Europe. The complete G28 rifle package here is around $16,000..... so actually reasonable if you compare trying to source the parts for a clone.

Um... those are special HK marked S&B - Do you want to try and price one?

Also, in Germany they're marked "G28Z", they're marked "G28" in Canada.

Americans are super jealous that we can get this.

Now only 1 left at Bullseye sports...

The G28Z is the civilian version of the “military” G28.
It has a different gas block, no suppressor setting.

North America was suppose to get the G28E “export” model.
