Hk G3a3

Yes, I have shot the G3 and their semi-auto brother the HK91. They are nasty guns, both heavy to carry and they get extremely dirty inside from firing. They seem to function very well and are reliable. Same goes for their cousin the G33.

I dint find the G3 that heavy at all when I had the chance to play with one. Very nice sights on them too. Din't like the cocking handle placement, but the gun itself shouldered well and if we lived in a free country, I would own 2.

The G3A3 is a beautiful Rifle, very accurate and reliable, polygonal riflling, fluted chamber which aides in the recoil reduction and a very positive extraction of the spent cases(over 20 feet forward right). Think of it as a bigger MP5, it is the same except for the caliber and size. I can shoot MOA or better, at 300 meters with issue IVI.

Anything HK is quality!

Very few ( I have never seen one) came with the infamous Poly rifling. None the less they are certainly the most accurate of the mass produced 'army guns' out there.

The fluted chamber has NOTHING to do with recoil. The roller locking system ejects the empty SO SOON after firing that the case may still be stuck to the chamber wall. The fluting allows the case to float(slightly) ...enough to prevent seperated cases...and it makes coool marks on the empty brass:cool:

good gu,n shame we cant use them anymore
but for soem reason i keep finging alot of 308 empties with black stripes on them at my range.
no idea how thats happening :)

I was firing my G3 today and I still love it. I put about 300 rds through it today in full auto . The best way is just to keep it in burst fire of about 2 rounds per trigger pull to get decent accuracy at what you are shooting at. I might try in the near future to mount optics on it and see what kind of groups I can get with it in semi-auto, but its too much fun in auto. Anyways good reliable rifle I had no problems ever getting used to it, but the charging handle takes some effort to get used if you are not familiar with it. mine has a fixed stock not collapsing, never shot one full auto with a collapsing stock so i can't say what they are like but i am sur not that bad.

Its a great rifle if you look at pictures taken from warzones in the seventys there were three dominat guns G3, AK, FN, and all have stood the test of time.

my favourite main battle rifle.close second is the SLR,but the G3 is shorter, under 18 inch barrel, the telescopic stock is a feature you just cant get in a inch pattern FN and i like a recoil operated system.just dont mess with the bolt and lock the rollers into the IN battery position while field stripping or you will never get the bolt carrier back into the reciever.i am sure this is some simple way of unlocking it but i always used to forget.klunk,is that a MAS

Ok, like you say it is, however, it's a fine quality Rifle for what it is.

Yes...its one of the French guns. Its still full of HK marked internals

As for the the bolt....it 'twists' apart. Hard to explain without one in your hand but you will never pull the bolt into 'recoil' position be hand. That is why the cocking handle is the way it is. It actually 'pries' the bolt back when you hinge it open.

I can take pics if ya REALLY want....

got rid of my G3 years ago.i figured out how to press in the button and twist the bolt head off to reset,it took me days.one of the biggest things i remember about the gun, other than the compact size and i loved it and i miss it

easy way to unlock it....turn the bolt around...holding the cocking extentsion in your hand....push the bolt head end back into the receiver and the reciever will pop the rollers back in and there ya go
