Just curious where one can acquire one.

Or for that matter to those who have them are they "worth it" (I realize its subjective)

Ive been kind of looking for one on and off for a while, never got too serious about it though.

I have some concerns as in replacement of mags (or trying to get floorplates for regular mags that would work).

I have read that you can use regular mags as long as you remove some pin? (I'm guessing removing the "funnel" from the bottom of the grip?)

Any idea where to look other then south of the border?

I wouldn't mind getting the kit and some mags or floor plates for regular mags if they even exist/are available.

Ive seen some mags in the USA every now and again, and might be even worth importing through IRG or Prophet etc. Just trying to see my options.

Thanks

PS. Who deals with HK stuff now in Canuckisan??

I've got one on my "boomerang" USP Expert (bought it, sold it then bought it back again). I like it of course as it makes mag changes easier, but I like how it gives a bit more room for my hands—I don't have big hands but I still find the regular USP grip a little short. For a competition gun it's nice to have a bit more to hold onto. I had a quick look and I don't know how regular USP mags would work—mine didn't fit in enough to reach the mag catch. I've heard that the jet funnel mags are hard to come by but I've not looked for any myself.

Yes. You will need the jet funnel mags. Regular mags will not work.

I agree, mag changes are a lot smoother with it.

I wouldn't bother unless you're able to get all the mags you want at the same time. Finding them after the fact can be a pain.

I had a USP and when I saw the prices of these items I dropped the idea completely. Just bought some more regular USP magazines.

I have one on my Elite and really like it for the same reason Master-G stated - makes for a fuller, better grip for me (same reason I like them on my 1911s). I'm a target shooter so rapid mag changes are less of an issue for me but the jet funnel also improves the balance of the gun imo. The mags are expensive and hard to get for sure though. For me, it is worth the initial investment for the funnel and a few mags, but if I was doing high volume shooting and chewing through mags, that might be a different calculation. That said, if I was doing high volume shooting the price of ammo is by far the biggest cost.

North Sylva is the sole Canadian distributor for HK. You can have your local gun store order you a jet funnel kit from them and it will run you about $110 plus taxes. As Gdawg and Master-G have indicated the standard mags will no longer fit into the pistol magwell. You will need to order Jet funnel mags from a US importer like IRUNGUNS and you will have to pay for a pinning service before the mags can legally be transported into Canada.

If you are shooting competitively and typically require 10-12 mags for a match this can start to get pricey. The 18 round steel mags retail for about $90USD and the government issue (LE) mags are about $70USD. + shipping to Canada, + pinning at $10/mag, + shipping to your house, + HST.

Yeah Id be looking for the kit+about 6-8 mags (I shoot 2+1 but spares are always welcome) And would like to get it all together at the same time. Might be worth shooting IRG a message and seeing what develops.

I love the look, and from what Ive read it balances the gun out more... other then mag costs (meh it has HK on it so it'll be pricey anyways), I don't see it too const prohibitive...

Time to perhaps look stateside and look to import.

IF you guys see it somewhere, throw me a heads up though.

Big difference betwee steel/polymer mags? As in weight/easy of use? I don't mind heavy mags, just curious at what point does it become too heavy for a grip.

So to be clear, there is no "floor plate" you can just swap in for the regular mags?

I don't think there is a floor plate you can swap. The reality is though, that you could slightly grind down (Dremel) the sides of the standard mag base-plate and it would work. They'd be a little counter sunk in the mag well but would work.

Metal mags are nice but definitely heavier and a lot more money.

The mags are longer so no floorplate change that will work. I'm tempted to offer to sell you the jet funnel I have (no mags though). I don't use it but I hate to part with anything HK.

The steel mags are apparently quite good. I have no personal experience with them, but the guys I know in the US love them.

@Devious.

I'm the same. I got a box full of HK Stuff (SL8-36 conversion stuffs and 223A1-416 conversion stuff...) I'll probably be buried with that stuff :D

But... IF you decide to sell, shoot me a line, mags I can get down the road... I found one place in the USA that has 42 of'em for... 54$USD... or around there (opaque plastic no print)

You have to remove the jet funnel piece to fit regular mags. That being said you dont need the jet funnel itself to fit jet funnel mags on a regular usp.

now looking for 1 JF mag. (9mm USP)

I pretty much want to see if I can modify an existing USP mag to work with it by 3dPrinting a floor plate that'll take up the difference in dimensions.

Anybody willing to part with one shoot me a PM, or know of a seller to shoot a PM to.

Thanks

Hmm so nobody is interested in selling ONE mag...

Would people be interested in doing a group buy?

I think most companies charge 50$/line item (even if there is 100 of them)+shipping+taxes etc etc etc.

I might pick up from this one place I found in the USA, but for one mag its almost not worth it.
