Screw the US Dept. of State. With a little patience, HK's gonna fill the void and wipe out alot of business over our US border for the AR15 market. I got this response from FN Sports today regarding if the MR223 is going to be available for civilians in the near future.

Good day cancer.

Yes, we have them on order, but at the moment, I have no idea of delivery. We are a distributor only, so you will have to contact a dealer for pricing.

Regards

Well it all sounds good, except for the price!

The new MR223 rifle made its debut at the IWA Show in Nuremburg, Germany, March 14, 2008. IWA is German for Internationale Waffen Ausstellung, or International Weapon Exhibition. It is the German equivalent to the SHOT Show. HK Germany is always present and debuted the civilian piston drive rifle for the German gun owning public, or should I say the wealthy German gun owning public. The suggested retail price is €2849 or roughly $4200 USD, including a rather stiff Value Added Tax of 19 percent.

For 4K+ you might as well get a Tavor and a case of ammo/optics.

Nope. If I was going to dig out the cash....that much $3K +. I would make sure I would have the extra 1K for the MR223

This Is a Beautiful Rifle:rockOn:

You guys are crazy if you are agreeable to feed a manufacturer of a $4K semi-auto rifle in 223. That's what I would expect to pay for a .50". Of course no one is expected to listen to me, I am a cheap bastard who enjoys shooting Stevens 200, but still, $4K is a lot of money.

Substitute "cheap" with "sensible" ;)
you're not alone for sure

The price is a little absurd. I thought they were going to recoup their R&D costs via government contracts, not civvy sales. HK would make an absolute killing if they sold parts for the MR223, from complete uppers to separate pieces (bolts espescially).
