HK SL8 and G36 piston and op rod questions...

Looking at sourcing a lighter and possibly shorter SL8/G36 barrel assembly. Three questions for the communal CGN brain:

1/ are the full-length G36E piston and op rod the same as the SL8 ones, and interchangeable? (Internet seems to indicate that they are)

2/ does the 15.4" G36 CQB barrel assembly take the full-length/full size G36E piston/oprod combo, or the shorter G36K piston/oprod combo? If I buy one of these barrel assemblies I'd like to know whether an SL8 piston system works with it, or if I'll need to source something else.

3/ Are the G36K piston/oprod in fact different/shorter than the full-length G36E ones? (Internet indicates they are different , but want to confirm) I know the G36C have a shorter setup, but I'm not 100% sure about the K

Im not sure but calgery shooting center was offering interesting custom work on the SL8. The gas piston system is short enough to chop some barrel and leave it stock. They offered turning the barrel down too

In case anyone was wondering about the answers to these questions:

1/ the full-length G36E piston and op rod are interchangeable with the SL8 ones

2/ the 15.4" G36 CQB barrel assembly does take the full-length/full size G36E piston/oprod combo. So if you have a full-length G36 sitting in the safe, you can buy a CQB barrel and use your existing piston/rod for the conversion.

3/ the G36K piston/oprod are in fact both different/shorter than the ones the G36E and G36CQB both use. The K piston/rod can't be used in the E or CQB.

A buddy bought a CQB barrel assembly for his restricted G36K, and had to source the full-length op rod and piston to finish his build. I helped him swap barrels - just as easy, if not easier, than swapping AR barrels. I'll have to get him to send me a pic of the finished product.

I got a full-length Lothar Walther G36 barrel for an SL8, and the SL8 piston and op rod appear to fit the G36 barrel just fine. Haven't installed that barrel on anything yet.... can't remember if I still have the SL8 I bought it for or if I sold it at some point. Getting forgetful...
