HK SL8 Bipod or Harris?

I have an HK SL8 with a lower rail and bipod stud sporting a Harris 6-9. I think with the factory HK SL8 G36 bipod installed and lower rail removed I would save weight. Would be more accurate with the Harris or the HK bipod? Would the HK be lighter than the Harris after the rail is removed? I realize that the legs are a fixed length on the HK bipod. With the weight savings and similar accuracy exist with the HK bipod as the Harris I might switch over. What would you guys do?

Thanks
Moe

I have a harris on mine without a bottom rail and not even considered the HK
Bipod.
Weight wise i really dont take much notice as
I have my rifle on a two point sling so i can find
A nice carrying position

Thanks for the feedback. I considered the idea of taking the rail off and attaching a sling stud directly to the stock to one of the rail mounting holes. Wasn't sure if the stock was strong enough. Is that how you mounted it and is it holding up well?

Thats exactly how i mounted mine. I was rather lucky
To source a metric sling stud locally and it worked
A treat.

The H&K bi-pod works well is easy to install and folds up neatly to the stock without getting in the way if shooting off hand. I have Harris bi-pods on my other rifles and they work well but for the SL-8 I prefer the H&K bi-pod.
Cheers, good shooting

Thanks guys. I have a metric sling stud and will try that. Look at what weight savings it gives me then decide if that's enough or change to the HK.

Cheers
