Hi Everyone!

I was just surfing the HK website and was a little enraged that they won't sell these pretty cool guns to civilains. Furthermore I don't think the $5000 to $7500 prices they're fetching is very realistic either!

Considering that you can get a Beretta Storm for $1000, an HK SL8 for around $2200, a USC for $1800, and the Swiss Arms rifles for $3000, an Colt 9mm carbine for $3500 and a Colt LE6920 for $2500, what do you think they're worth?

Now I know anything is worth not a penny more than the buyer is willing to spend, with some people willing to spend more, and some less, and supply and demand leads to price gauging as always, but if they were as "readily" available as the Swiss Arms guns, what would they be worth?

If I could call up TSE and order either one I'd be willing to pay at least what the Swiss Arms rifles go for, maybe more. I PERSONALLY think $3000 to $3500, and all you?

(Also, please don't respond that they're junk and you wouldn't trade your SKS for one because that's neither productive nor realistic.)

Thanks!

IF they were readily available, they'd be worth less.

But they're not, so they're worth more.

AND - there is ZERO chance that more will come onto the market. The ones that made it on at this point were a 'mistake' and pee-pees were slapped for it.

I wouldn't pay $6000 for a .223 semi, but some people will!!!

Does anyone know how the ones that came here made it in? And what reprocussions were faced? It seems odd that someone could not get any others out from under HK's noses...

^ Yup...But the law of supply and demand is mixed with legality on this issue and that makes the non-restricted EBR's even more desirable as it manipulates both the supply (x) and demand (y) axis...stupid laws provide artificial inflation on the price graph line (z) or whatever its called

They were imported from HK under the assumption that they were being sold to movie armourers, however through some sort of miscommunication the Canadian importer when around and sold them to the public.

Needless to say that that firearms dealer probably isn't going to be recieving any more HK product anytime soon :p

Hey Phil,
so I was under the assumption they are 12x prohib. with no SAP. When did this 'hick-up' happen and were there any problems for the fortunate few who bought them?

The regular HK G36's were non restricted IIRC.

As said they were brought in for the Movie industry, but were instead sold to Civilians. HK was not too happy about that and a ####storm occured.

At one time they were going for over $10,000!!!!!!

I got to handle a G36K, and it was nothing special.Maybe worth $1000.00 at most IMHO.Certainly not the $6000.00 to $$8000.00 prices that are being asked today.

IIRC, there are around 11 or 12 G36s in the hand of civilian owners here in Canada.

SKBY.

Nay, the G36s, G36Cs and UMPs that were imported into Canada were semi-auto only. To be prohib a firearm has to be full auto, convertable to full auto, or prohib'd by an Order in Council. The G36s nor UMPs were ever placed on the OiC list, nor were they ever capable of auto fire. So only the standard barrel length restriction apply.

The G36Ks (i believe) are non-restricted, the G36Cs are restricted because of barrel length, and ditto with the UMPs.

I can't wait to see where this thread goes:)

Strangeday, I saw your posting a few threads down and if I could afford 12K for the two guns you got I'd happily spend it! :)

As is I have to sell 5 of my guns just to pay for the Swiss Arms Black Special Target that I just bought used! :(

I'd love to get my hands on either one of the HK's someday though...

^Hey SkullBoy, I handled (no discharge) one recently and have to agree...Thanks Phil , I didn't know about this stuff.

The G36K is restricted due to barrel length, The standard G36 I'm not sure about. Yep..UMP is restricted too....As for what they are worth...well its the law of supply and demand...I have had quite a few wild offers for mine. I keep'em cause it's just nice to have.

recent media exposure certainly seems to assist with current pricing.
i know i am in denial..but sometimes i get this thirst for these babies..must
..not..polymer..:)

Strangeday, I remember when you posted that pic a while ago. Nice guns man. Now how about gettin' some drywall up on that wall.

I know the HK's are pricy but c'mon get some drywall...

just razzin' ya :p ;) :)

Love H&K. Don't know why. I shouldn't love it. It's evil things.... General public opinion don't support it. Government doesn't want me to have it...

Oh, that is WHY I like it...
