Hey everybody,

There's a really good deal on a brand new HK USP stainless at a local shop and I'm thinking I might pick one up. The reason there's such a good deal on them is that they've been discontinued.

Does anybody know the reason for this? Anybody experienced/heard about/read about any problems with it?

thanks!

They haven't been discontinued. While HK is still making them, HK USA has apparently stopped importing them several years ago (this does not affect the Canadian market though, as the Canadian distributor imports guns directly from Germany). Apparently, there wasn't enough demand for the stainless version because it wasn't as "tactical" as the black one. There is absolutely nothing wrong with stainless USP physically. I've got one in 9mm and it's great. HK's stainless finish is one of the prettiest I've seen on a mass produced gun. It almost looks like hard chrome. You won’t regret buying a stainless USP.

I thought the stainless was discontinued? ITs not listed on the German homepage. I thought they were delisted about 2 years ago?

I have personally seen a stainless USP that had an AF date stamp (which means that the gun was manufactured in 2005)

Sure they are - http://www.heckler-kochjs.de/default.php
Click on 'English' > Products > Pistols. The stainless & the compact stainless are both there.

You're looking at the Military & Law Enforecment site.

From this link : http://www.heckler-koch.de/flashintro.html click the Heckler & Koch JS (Hunting & Sporting) link at the bottom centre of the page.

arghgh good...

question...

I see you can retrofit a standard USP into a USP Expert. Can you retrofit a standard USP into an ELite? And if you get the Expert or the Elite retrofit, do you have to use the Jet funnel or can you just use the regular mags? And any idea on what sort of cost this would be?

Thanks

I ordered a complete 9mm USP stainless, V1. All I have to do is switch sights from my Custom sport, and install a "sporting trigger kit" (match trigger kit) and I have a:cool: Custom Sport stainless.:D I will also install a V3 plate.
I sold me USP LEM to help cover the costs of my new purchase.:(

New can o' worms - I'm assuming you're going to shoot this little beauty in IPSC Production Division. If not -hit your 'Back' button. If so, read on....Since the Custom Sport was never offered in stainless, it will be assumed that you have modified the exterior finish of your Custom Sport, or some other silly notion. Well you know where all this is going... :D :p

Production legal. USP 9mm stainless= on the list. sporting trigger and match sights are factory options.

Other than show, whats your take on the stainless? Or just buy it for looks? Both weigh in at the same weight.

I'm actually looking for one now (9mm, stainless or not). Before I harass P&D with my question, does anyone know if they accept trades?

Have you ever shot the Elite? Any opinions? Is the custom performance wise similar enough to either the expert or the Elite?

I have never shot an elite. I appears to be a nice working but rather odd looking pistol. I am getting the stainless because they look nice, and because I had a spare pistol just sitting in my safe that could partially finance my new purchase. I will have a new pistol that looks even nicer than a blued version, and I have a theory that it may be easier to pick up the sights as they contrast against the stainless slide. I find I lose my front sight when I transition too fast. I wear glasses, and my eyes are not terrible, but I have an astigmatism.

Reliability on the USP? Im at alittle over 4 rounds with no FTF or FTE. I have had two squibs to date, which due to the tight barrel the bullets needed to be drilled out.

Just threw down the plastic for a 9x19 in the stainless this morning at Italian Sporting Goods. Going to be a tough few days waiting for reg. Plus, being a lefty, I had the gunsmith there fit the safety/decocker on the right –*one of the main reasons I bought the USP.

Going to be a tough few days waiting for reg.

Good on ya mate!
The ambi lever is something I heard a few guys i ontario have had put on there USP Experts
