HK416 availability and price?

i've seen a slightly used one on EE not to long ago... it went for $3500..

Yes.. they are called MR 223/308 here in Canada... Great rifles, just about as reliable as AR gets...

They're are less than 5 HK416 10.4" Uppers floating around in Canada on the civi market. I recall one of which went for upwards of 5k possibly towards 10k. MR223 doesn't tickle my fancy, if I can't use it on a regular M4/AR lower it is no good.

There's an MR 308 on Ellwood Epps right now for $4,289.94 new AND an MR 223 for $4,233.90 new as well.

Looks like there's just one of each on the website right now. At that price it's no wonder they're not selling fast.

last i heard, just the upper will run you about as much as a complete Mr223. just get the MR223.

that whole mil spec thing is pointless. the Mr223 will last you a thousand lifetimes. you don't need a 416. Plus the MR223 has a better, non-chromed lined barrel.

This. 5k and up is what you're realistically looking at. There was one CGN user who converted his MR223 to a 10.4" barrel length.

I'm pretty sure the mr223 is interchangeable with other ar lowers now..

but why is it called the m223 in canada, not the 556?

so basically there are no complete 416 rifles available? i'll have to look at importing one.

thanks guys.

Good luck on the import of the HK 416 .They can only be imported and sold to Government , Law enforcement agencies and licensed dealers in Canada.

Because we can't get the MR556. HK USA is forbidden from exporting outside the United States AFAIK and German law requires that HK GMBH alter the MR223 to be incompatible with any military rifle component.

It's the reason why you see the HK416 uppers going for upwards of $8000 or so.

MR223 is NOT a HK416.

I have seen one HK416 upper on the EE since I have joined, asking price was 10K+.

i dont understand why everyone is concerned with AR lower compatibility. With regards to the MR556, just because the lower/upper mesh well doesn't mean that internally all parts are interchangeable with standard AR parts. I guarantee that the MR556 has a slew of proprietary parts that are NOT interchangeable with any piston AR (again remember, this is a piston gun we are talking about). So i feel that this compatibility aspect is a moot point.

So if the desire is to have a gun that can mesh with a standard lower, than get an NEA.

You don't buy a Ferrari with the hopes that it will take honda civic parts.

and don't forget, while parts are scarce, they are not inaccessible. They can be had. You just have to pay for them... and wait of course.

All companies that make firearms need maintenance it does not matter which kind, that being said many HK firearms tend to be built like tanks.

You probably saw mine...and I didn't sell it for that much! Not even close. The going rate is between 5 and 6K and should include the HK buffer and spring. You might get a magazine if you are lucky.

Here's a shot from back in 09...
