Got a lb of Hodgdon International and was wondering if anyone has ever used this for mild loads for the 45-70. Is this powder comparable to Unique?

Hey Camper.
Since no one else has responded yet, I'll take a shot at it.
I haven't used universal, but all reports I've read suggest it's very similar to Unique. I'd probably start with 12 grains behind a 325 to 425 grain CAST bullet. I emphasize cast, as I'm unsure about jacketed bullets with such loads.
Have fun.
Stomp :)

The OP asked about International, not Universal. i agree that Universal is very similar to Unique.

I've only ever seen it used in shotshell reloading, which I don't do. It's closer to trail boss on the burn chart than Unique, which is right next door to Universal.

Thanks for the replies. I bought the powder by mistake as I mixed up International with Universal. Just didn’t know if anyone had a starting load for cast 405gr hard cast or if I should just use the powder for my garden.

Maybe worth an email to Hodgdon to see if they'd give you a some load data.
