i just noticed this on the hodgdon load data for .223

they tested their 80 and 90 gr bullets with a 1 in 12 twist barrel,

why would they do that cuz no one shooting that weight would be using a 12 twist

Twist rate has little to no effect on velocity or pressure and they most likely just used the same pressure/test barrel that they used for the rest of their .223 loads.

they also use a 22" barrel for a lot of the testing, which is IMO kinda halfway between a bench gun and an AR.

I guess its hard to please everybody. It would be almost impossible to use every length of barrel with every load.

The variation between rifles/chambers on pressure and velocity are so big that if they used multiple barrels the data would look confused. This is one of the reasons data from one book does not match data from another. And your barrel is different yet again.
