I just bought some H322 to try some loads for 55gr Vmax as well as 69gr SMK BTHP's. My question is: when I go onto the hodgins reloading data center it shows,

55gr = min 21gr max 23gr

69gr = min 21gr max 23 gr

how does it make sense that both weights of bullets have the same mins and maxes. Usally he lighter bullet can have more powder.
Also if any of you guys have any load sugestions for either of these bullets please share. I am using a rem 700 SPS tactical, 20inch barrel 1-9 twist.

thanks,
Justin

I'm presuming this is 223?

From Hornady

55 grain H322 19.5 to 23.1

68 grain H322 21.6 to 23.0

that is still very close at the High end. I have only been going by the hodgens sight ause I still need to get some reloading book so any advise is good.

thanks again,
Justin

I'd be very cautious using 23gr of H-322 with a Hornady 68gr.
Quickload list a pressure of over 65000 psi with that load.

thanks for the help guys, could anyone else share what some of their books say about this powder with these bullet weights?

Lee second edition....55 gr....22.0 - 24.0 gr h322

..............................70 gr...19.0 - 23.0 gr h322

Hornady......55gr...21.6 - 24.1 h322

does not list over 60 grain bullets.

H322 is very close to IMR 3031 in burning rate. I use 23.5 gr. 3031 to push 55 gr FMJs.

Hodgdon Powders list....55 gr. ...21 - 23 gr H322
...69 gr. ....21.o - 23.0 H322

Switching to Varget is a good choice. I am trying Varget in my .223 savage today. Both 55 gr. FMJs and 75 gr match bullets. The 69 grain Sierras do absolutely great with Varget powder.
