I used to hunt ground hogs in southern Ontario. Farmers welcomed me.
Do American farmers welcome walk up hog hunters?
Would an 30-06 hunting rifle be appropriate?

What happens to the dead hogs?

I went a couple of years antelope hunting in Wyoming. The local chamber of commerce gave out a list of local ranchers that welcomed prairie dog hunters. They are small but fun to shot at and the ranchers don't really care what caliber you use as long as you get rid of the prairie dogs and you don't shoot around their livestock.

I am hoping a similar arrangement is available for hogs.

It's far better to use an established local outfitter for the contacts. American farmers aren't the most receptive to strangers these days. Take lots of money. You'll need it. There's a charge for absolutely everything. Good luck.

What happens to the dead hogs?

I used to occasionally watch an outfit on YouTube hunt hogs in Texas. They did it all at night with AR's, suppressors and night-vision; lots of shooting from moving UTV's etc. Need a lot of kit we can't get up here, so as mentioned hiring an outfitter is probably the only or best option. Seems common to collect all the dead hogs and drop them off in mass at a local dog food factory. Don't think farmers want to go around cleaning up dead critters afterwards, so that's likely a condition. As would be not tearing up their fields with the vehicles.

We looked into it as a side show for a visit to Arizona. Found a ranch offering a diy spot n stalk for $225/day, they offered blind hunts also 'thermal' hunts with your or rented equip, priced accordingly
various all inclusive or diy hunts, various prices

I met a rancher from Texas he told me if I want to go down there to hunt hogs, he and his neighbours would pay for the ammo, feed me, give me a place to stay, provide a Jeep or farm truck to get around and I could stay as long as I want, he even said he knows another rancher who would fly me around in his helicopter if I proved I was a good shot. They really don’t like the hogs down there as they do a lot of damage, they want them exterminated end of story.

A bonus in Texas, not sure of other states, no hunting license required for hogs. You may need a hunter's certificate you can get online.

This is the kind of contacts I was hoping to find.

There are hundreds of hog hunting videos online that will give you a hint of what is needed. I dont think it is as simple as going out finding hogs popping their heads up and shooting. They are wary creatures and dangerous. It does look like a bunch of fun though.
