Contact the conservation offices along the Saskatchewan border. There are escaped farm boars in isolated areas in Sask, which may be adjacent to the AB border. If you get any leads, start contacting the rural municiality offices for more details. Finally, you may get some leads to landowners who have pig problems. Then the negotiations begin. Have fun!

We have "wild hogs " because the high fences didn't work. They dig under even if it's buried.Canned hunts are just that.A trip to the zoo.Bang!

I went looking for wild pigs around the Leader Sask area (close to the ab border) a few years ago. There were heavy rumours of the pigs but we didn't find any.

I've never heard of any others anywhere in Alberta other than the ones around Whitecourt, but I'd sure love to find some.

Sangudo to Whitecourt have good areas. I take 2 guns, .450 Marlin lever with a reflex sight for the tight bush around Whitecourt and Mayerthorpe. My .300wm for long range or shots in the open. Talk to the farmers in the Lilly lake area outside Mayerthorpe. Some are more than happy to have a few removed. We went up to Sangudo community pastures and chatted with the range hands to get the lowdown on the hogs up there. Unfortunately cattle were in the pasture area at the time. Good guys up there. Wild hogs are very tasty. If you strike out stop by Hog Wild Specialties they breed for "caged" hunts and also sell meat.

Best advice I can give is treat the land owners and land with respect and you will learn alot...they get alot of morons up there who don't respect private property and burn bridges for other hunters 10-20 minutes with a few people in the hot areas will set you up for some good hunting. Also keep in mind a sow with a litter can be very aggressive. Take a gun with punch if getting into tight bush. They like bush around the lakes and ponds. It is tight bush in some areas, you can be 10 feet from a large boar and hear it but not see it...ask the wife. :)

Yeah I roamed around Connor Creek Pasture in Sangudo County a few years back. Sure seemed to be alot of crooked little piggy trails there in the bush. Locals said the hunting pressure made them nocturnal. Like I said, this was around 2005 or thereabouts. Just as an aside I do believe I'd seen a 400 pound black bear (wild @ss guess) there during the same visit. The farmers were pretty darn curious to know where I'd seen him last. This wooded area to the north & west of the nearby lake (Dahlemey?) has had some grizzly bear sightings in the not too distant past fellas.

It all comes down to how well they are eating. Even the lowest grade of waste grain or lentils, hmm uber yummy. Or on the other end if they've been eating roots, leaves, worms, mice, road kill & garbage it will probably taste utterly crappy.
