I looked at some Hogue Overmold stocks today with full Aluminum bedding, looked well made.

Any one have any experience with these stocks?

Never had one, but I see lots for sale all the time. They come factory on the Rem SPS tactical and some Ruger Hawkeye models, but guys seem to take them off all the time...

My rem 700 SPS tac has a hogue overmoulded stock, but I can assure you it does not have full aluminum bedding, just two posts. That's probably why they are on the EE. I have no experience with other Hogues though.

The full aluminum version with the AL forend is the way to go, as opposed to the one with just the pillars. They are an entry level stock, not great, but fair. They are nice and light mind you.

Hogue makes them in two varieties, one with pillar bedding (which is the type used on Hawkeyes and SPS Tacticals) and another with a full-length aluminum block. They look identical, and they all have a wonderful "feel" to them, very comfortable to hold. I like the ergonomics of them a lot. I've had and sold several of the pillar-bedded type, not because of any particular problems, just normal horse-trading. They aren't the stiffest stocks in the world, but I think they are well worth the money.

I still have one of the aluminum-bedding-block versions, mounted on an older Ruger MkII model 77. It is very stiff and stable, definitely an improvement over the original synthetic on the gun. It is NOT lightweight. I haven't weighed it but it's considerably heavier than the original stock, and also than the pillar-bedded Hogues.

Overall I like these stocks and would recommend them.
